Forget everything you know about how the throne of Mirzapur changed hands. This film takes you back to before any of it happened, when Kaleen Bhaiya's word was law, Munna was still very much alive, and Guddu was just another guy trying to find his footing in a world that would eventually consume him.

With the advance booking numbers already turning heads, Mirzapur The Movie is shaping up to be one of the biggest theatrical events of the year. Here's everything worth knowing before it hits screens.
What Is Mirzapur The Movie About?
Unlike a typical sequel, Mirzapur The Movie rewinds the clock and drops audiences into an earlier, unseen chapter of the franchise's timeline. Kaleen Bhaiya is firmly in control of the Gaddi, Munna Tripathi is alive and still very much his father's son, Bablu Pandit is around, and Guddu is only beginning his journey into the world that will eventually turn him into the character fans know from the show.
Into this already volatile mix steps a new challenger, Ravi Kishan's character, who refuses to be intimidated by Kaleen's claim that he alone holds the key to Mirzapur.
What makes this such an interesting watch for longtime fans is knowing exactly how it all eventually plays out for these characters, and watching the film build toward that inevitability anyway.
The central conflict revolves around the fight for the Gaddi, but with the added weight of dramatic irony that only die-hard viewers of the series will fully catch. Expect the same trademark Mirzapur bhaukaal, sharp dialogue, and simmering tension, just wrapped in a bigger, theatrical scale.
Cast Of Mirzapur The Movie
Pankaj Tripathi as Akhandanand Tripathi (Kaleen Bhaiya) - the reigning power center of Mirzapur.
Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit - seen here at an earlier, rawer stage of his journey.
Divyenndu as Munna Tripathi - making a highly anticipated return despite his fate later in the series.
Shweta Tripathi Sharma as Golu Gupta
Rasika Dugal as Beena Tripathi
Shriya Pilgaonkar as Sweety Gupta
Jitendra Kumar as Bablu Pandit - stepping into the role originally played by Vikrant Massey.
Rajesh Tailang as Ramakant Pandit, Harshita Gaur as Dimpy Pandit, Abhishek Banerjee, Sheeba Chaddha and Kulbhushan Kharbanda in key returning roles
Ravi Kishan, Sonal Chauhan and Mohit Malik join as new additions expanding the franchise's world
Mirzapur The Movie is directed by Gurmmeet Singh, who also helmed the original series, and written by Puneet Krishna. It's produced by Excel Entertainment's Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, in association with Amazon MGM Studios.
Mirzapur The Movie Advance Booking
The advance booking numbers for this one have been climbing fast. When pre-sales opened on August 31, the film sold over 26,000 tickets within the first 24 hours, pulling in an advance gross of roughly Rs 83.67 lakh, a figure that rose to nearly Rs 1.9 crore once block seats were factored in.
By September 1, the film had crossed 30,000 tickets in national chains like PVR Inox and Cinepolis alone, and that number nearly doubled to 55,000 tickets by September 2, with two full days still left before release.

Trade trackers are now projecting an opening day in the Rs 20 to Rs 26 crore range, with several predictions settling around a Rs 24 crore net start. If that holds, Mirzapur The Movie is expected to comfortably beat the advance booking numbers of Pankaj Tripathi's own 2023 release OMG 2, which had opened with around Rs 3.3 crore in advance sales.
Industry watchers are also placing it among the top five advance booking performers of the year in national chains, a genuinely strong showing for a franchise making its jump from streaming to the big screen.
When Is Mirzapur The Movie Releasing?
Mirzapur The Movie hits theatres worldwide on September 4, 2026. With advance bookings already tracking toward a Rs 20 crore-plus opening day, Mirzapur The Movie looks set to prove that Kaleen Bhaiya's throne still commands serious pulling power, streaming fame and all, once it lands in cinemas.
