"Andha hone se zyada bura pata hai kya hota hai? Bewakoof hona." That one line, delivered in Akshay Kumar's coldest voice yet, is enough to tell you this isn't your usual Khiladi Kumar outing.
The Haiwaan trailer is finally out, and it's dark, it's unsettling, and it brings Akshay and Saif Ali Khan face to face on screen after nearly two decades.
If Tashan is still your go-to nostalgia watch, get ready, because this reunion looks nothing like that one.

Haiwaan Trailer Out
Director Priyadarshan dropped the Haiwaan trailer this week, and it wastes no time setting a chilling tone. Akshay Kumar plays the titular Haiwaan, a ruthless, unpredictable man with zero grey areas, while Saif Ali Khan takes on the role of a blind man forced to survive against him using nothing but instinct and courage. The teaser leans hard into suspense over spectacle, building an eerie cat-and-mouse dynamic between the two actors from the very first frame.
What really stands out in the Haiwaan trailer is how different Akshay looks here. Cold, aggressive, completely in control, this is a far cry from his comic outings with Priyadarshan like Hera Pheri or their more recent Bhoot Bangla. The director himself has been blunt about it, saying Akshay's character isn't written with any shades of grey, he's simply a psychopath. Saif, on the other hand, reportedly needed zero formal training to nail the blind man role, something Priyadarshan says impressed him immediately.
What Is Haiwaan About?
Haiwaan is the official Hindi remake of the 2016 Malayalam hit Oppam, which originally starred Mohanlal. While the makers are keeping most plot details under wraps, the Haiwaan trailer hints at a survival thriller where a blind man becomes the only witness capable of stopping a dangerous killer, using senses rather than sight to outsmart him.
It's being described as a story built around obsession and relentless pursuit, and going by the teaser alone, that tension comes through loud and clear.
Cast Of Haiwaan
Akshay Kumar as Haiwaan - a menacing, morally black character unlike anything he's played with Priyadarshan before.
Saif Ali Khan - playing a blind man caught in a deadly game of survival.
Boman Irani - playing a judge in a key supporting role.
Saiyami Kher - playing a cop tracking the case.
Shriya Pilgaonkar and Sharib Hashmi – rounding out the ensemble in pivotal roles.
Rajpal Yadav, Rajesh Sharma, Pahal Chaudhary and Manoj Joshi also feature in the film.
Haiwaan is directed by Priyadarshan and produced under KVN Productions and Thespian Films by Venkat K. Narayana and Shailaja Desai Fenn. Filming took place across Kochi, Vagamon, Ooty and Mumbai.
When Is Haiwaan Releasing?
Haiwaan is set to hit theatres worldwide on September 11, 2026, timed to ride the Ganesh Chaturthi holiday period. SonyLIV will stream the film digitally once its theatrical run wraps up.
With Akshay Kumar's chilling new avatar and Saif Ali Khan's instinct-driven survival act, the Haiwaan trailer has set up one of the most intriguing Bollywood thrillers of the year, and audiences won't have to wait long to see how it all plays out.
