What follows is a sprawling, dual-timeline thriller weaving together crime, religion, politics and personal trauma. Like Mirzapur, it doesn't shy away from moral grey zones, and its characters are just as flawed and magnetic.
2. Asur

Asur trades gang warfare for something eerier, a psychological hunt for a serial killer who believes he's fulfilling an ancient mythological prophecy. Arshad Warsi and Barun Sobti play forensic experts racing to stop a string of ritualistic murders before religious extremism and personal vendettas collide into something catastrophic.
It's darker and more cerebral than Mirzapur, but the tension and the constant sense of dread make it just as gripping. If you enjoy crime shows that mix mythology with modern horror, this is an easy recommendation.
3. Farzi

Farzi swaps gangland violence for a different kind of crime entirely, counterfeit currency. Shahid Kapoor plays Sunny, a broke artist who starts printing fake notes almost as a joke, only to get pulled deeper into a dangerous world he can't easily exit.
Vijay Sethupathi plays the relentless cop chasing him down, and the cat-and-mouse chase between the two carries most of the show's tension. It's slicker and more stylised than Mirzapur, but the constant moral compromises and rising stakes will feel very familiar.
4. Gangs Of Wasseypur

If Mirzapur is Purvanchal's underworld, Gangs of Wasseypur is Dhanbad's answer to it, and honestly, the blueprint for a lot of what came after. Anurag Kashyap's two-part gangster saga follows three generations of the Khan family as they battle the Qureshi clan over coal mafia dominance, political corruption and old, festering grudges that never quite die.
It's violent, funny, and unapologetically regional in its language and humour. Manoj Bajpayee's Sardar Khan alone makes this one worth revisiting, and if you liked the family feud angle in Mirzapur, this one goes even deeper.
5. Paatal Lok

Paatal Lok strips away the glamour of crime dramas and replaces it with something rawer. Jaideep Ahlawat plays Hathi Ram Chaudhary, an underachieving cop handed a case that seems minor on paper but ends up dragging him through caste politics, media manipulation and buried personal history.
It's less about flashy violence and more about the systems that quietly keep people trapped. If Mirzapur's appeal for you was watching ordinary people get crushed or corrupted by power, Paatal Lok delivers that same feeling with a sharper, more grounded edge.
6. Maharani

Maharani flips the usual power-hungry-politician story on its head. Huma Qureshi plays Rani Bharti, an uneducated homemaker who's suddenly thrust into the Chief Minister's chair of Bihar after her husband's political exit, only to discover she's far more capable, and far more ruthless when needed, than anyone expected.
Set against the messy backdrop of 1990s Bihar politics, it's got backstabbing, caste tension and power plays in equal measure. If the political scheming in Mirzapur was your favourite part, Maharani leans even harder into that side of the genre.
7. Rangbaaz

Rangbaaz takes the anthology route, with each season inspired by the real lives of infamous Indian gangsters. The first season follows Shiv Prakash Shukla, a small-time criminal in Uttar Pradesh whose journey into organised crime spirals into something far bigger and bloodier than he ever intended.
It's fast-paced, brutal, and unafraid to show how easily ordinary ambition curdles into violence. For anyone who liked Mirzapur's UP-set gang wars, Rangbaaz feels like a natural, slightly grittier next watch.
