Looks like our B-town is the latest target of hackers after Tuesday when Twitter accounts of veteran actor-politician Anupam Kher, RSS leader and BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav and senior Indian journalist and Member of Parliament Swapan Dasgupta were hacked. A day later after this incident Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s son, Abhishek Bachchan’s Twitter handle was also hacked. Abishek’s account was hacked by the same hackers that hacked Anupam’s account, pro-Pakistani Turkish cyber army Ayyildiz Tim. After hacking into their accounts the hackers started posting in Turkish and uploaded ‘I love Pakistan’ statuses. Messages like "Your account has been hacked by Turkish cyber army 'Ayyildiz Tim'. Your DM correspondence and important data have been captured. I Love Pakistan" were posted by their accounts.
As a result of this, the tick which is a sign of verification was removed from Abhishek’s twitter account. Abhishek’s cover photo was also removed and instead photograph was uploaded with a missile that read Ayyildiz Tim in chalk.
In an official post about the hacking twitter said,
“Our teams are working to resolve an issue affecting a small number of Indian users. We will notify affected account holders directly. Reminder: do not click on links in DMs coming from unknown accounts.” It also added a caution note which said: “do not click on links in DMs coming from unknown accounts".
After taking back Anupam Kher’s account he immediately uploaded an advisory message which said, “To everyone on Twitter: Please don’t open any link sent to your direct messages, however genuine they appear. That is the tool hackers are using to hack into your account. Please share this message with as many people as you can. Thanks.”
His account was also changed from @AnupamPKher -- was briefly changed to @AnupamPKherTC.
