Do You Need To Watch Awarapan Before Part 2?
No, you don’t need to watch Awarapan before Awarapan 2. The first 15 minutes of part 2 gives a glimpse of the story of what happened in the previous film.
For fans who have seen Awarapan already, going back to the original might enhance the experience further. The known characters, emotional landscape, and key themes can create a sense of revisiting a world that feels familiar.
Awarapan Story Recap
Before you dive into Awarapan 2, here is a quick refresher on the original story - the tragic tale that transformed Shivam from a man in love into a cold-blooded gangster.
This is the story of Shivam (Emraan Hashmi), a ruthless hitman and the most trusted right-hand man of mafia boss Bharat Malik. On the outside, Shivam is tough, emotionless, and merciless. But deep down, he is a completely broken man carrying heavy guilt.
Years ago, Shivam was deeply in love with a girl named Aliya and wanted to marry her. However, Aliya’s father strongly opposed their relationship. In a tragic turn of events, Aliya's father tried to shoot Shivam, but Aliya jumped in front to save him. She died on the spot. Unable to forgive himself for her death, Shivam buried his emotions and turned into an even more brutal criminal.
One day, his mafia boss, Bharat Malik, asks Shivam to keep an eye on a girl named Reema, suspecting her of being unfaithful. As Shivam stalks her, he slowly uncovers the painful truth that Reema is a victim of human trafficking.
She is deeply in love with someone else and desperately wants her freedom. Looking at Reema, Shivam sees a reflection of his lost love, Aliya, and his own tragic past. For the first time in his life, the man who spent years shedding blood decides to save a life. Shivam revolts against his own mafia boss to fight for Reema's freedom.
This betrayal turns the entire crime syndicate against Shivam. In an intense, bloody final shootout, Shivam successfully manages to put Reema on a safe ship to freedom. But in doing so, he takes multiple bullets and collapses. Everyone assumes Shivam died that night. However, 19 years later, on August 14, 2026, Shivam makes his return (with Awarapan 2). But this time around, he isn't back for love - he is back for total revenge.

While some users show their disappointment. Many users believe that Emraan Hashmi is the only character which carries the film single-handedly. Disha Patani looks beautiful but she did not continue that much to the story.
#Awarapan2 Interval#EmraanHashmi is single handedly carrying the film in his shoulders. #DishaPatani looks extremely beautiful but that's it. Puran Gabbi is ineffective and inconsistent as the villain. Shabana Azmi is delightful.

Should You Watch Awarapan 2? Yes, if you are an Emraan Hashmi fan or love the emotional intensity of Awarapan. The sequel works best when it focuses on Shivam’s pain, revenge and Emraan’s performance. However, Disha Patani’s character has limited impact, and some parts may feel less engaging.
Awarapan 2 Advance Booking

A remarkable surge after the event raised the total to 289.71K tickets overall! Awarapan 2 beats Sikandar’s pre-sale of 281K and Dhurandhar’s 224K pre-sale on BMS.
Became 3rd Biggest Pre-Sales Of 2026 In Bollywood
With final pre-sales officially secured, Emraan Hashmi has achieved the first pre-opening milestone, ranking as the third highest BMS pre-sale of 2026 for a Bollywood movie!
The romantic drama ranks just below Dhurandhar The Revenge and Border 2. In reality, it has moved Cocktail 2 out of the top 5 pre-sales for 2026, relegating Bhoot Bangla and Welcome To The Jungle one position down!
Batwara 1947 VS Awarapan 2 - Who Leads The Box Office?
The Friday box office battle between Awarapan 2 and Batwara 1947 is showing a clear winner, but it comes with a major theater allocation debate.
Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2 is off to a flying start. Morning show collections are more than double those of recent releases like Welcome to the Jungle and Dhamaal 4, with potential to reach nearly 3x as the day progresses. Awarapan 2 Heading toward a Rs 20+ crore net opening day.
On the other hand, Sunny Deol’s Partition-era drama Batwara 1947 has opened to a weak response. Unlike the massive success of Gadar 2, Batwara 1947 features a softer, non-traditional narrative where Sunny Deol's Pakistani character protects a Hindu woman in Pakistan.
The most surprising element of this clash is screen allocation. Despite Awarapan 2 generating 8 times the advance sales of Batwara 1947, both films were allotted nearly identical show counts. Trade analysts had predicted an opening of Rs 15 crore for Awarapan 2 versus Rs 5 crore for Batwara 1947 - a massive gap that pre-sales figures had already confirmed days ago.
Awarapan 2 successfully brings back Shivam with a darker revenge story and a strong performance from Emraan Hashmi. Despite some shortcomings in its supporting characters, the film delivers enough emotion and action to make it a worthwhile watch.
