Athiya Shetty spoke about her father, Suniel Shetty while reflecting on her relationship with her father. The actress revealed her equation with her parents. The actress stated that neither her brother (Ahan Shetty) nor she are mommy’s or daddy’s kids. She said there are certain things they can talk about with their father and vice versa. They have a wonderful relationship with their parents.
However, having said that the actress believes that every relationship requires a different outlook and perspective. The actress received her parents as her “friends” during her childhood and stated that respect was always there.
"Ahaan (Shetty) is more righteous. If I'm angry, it shows, I can argue with my father, but he can't. He never wants them to feel bad. He's more thoughtful that way. Personality-wise, I'm more like my father. while Ahan looks a lot like my mother. In our family, we all balance each other out.” she said,
The Hero actress also spoke about her father's long presence as an actor in the industry. According to her, it was goodwill that helped her reach this point. “Everywhere I go, people talk about my father's goodwill. In every group I'm in, people talk about how much they admire my father, and when you hear people say nice things about him, you realize how difficult it is to take his place. He's so loved and respected in the industry,” She said.

The actress claimed that she maintained her position, remained independent, and devoted her time to raising herself and her brother Ahan Shetty. She went on to say that she would like to inherit the respect her parents have for other people and their time.
The actress calls them "really good-hearted people" and believes that even if she could represent 5% of the way her parents make people feel, she would be thrilled. Athiya also remembers that their parents were strict with them when they were growing up, not because they wanted us to get good grades but because they wanted us to respect our elders and peers. “They raised us well,” she said.
