What Inspector Zende Story Is All About?

Zende's investigation for Charles Sobhraj, a convicted serial killer known as the "Bikini Killer," serves as the basis for thae movie. Jim Sarbh portrays the role, who has been renamed Carl Bhojraj in the Netflix adaptation. The police operation that ultimately resulted in Sobhraj's arrest is seen in the movie.

The project comes after previous works about Zende, such as Zende's memoir, Mumbai's Most Wanted: The Thrilling Case Files of a Supercop, and the 2023 documentary Zende, directed by Akshay Shah.

Sobhraj was convicted of several murders and was notorious for preying on young tourists in Asia in the 1970s. He allegedly drugged guards at a staged party during his 1986 escape from Tihar Jail, which is now regarded as one of India's most infamous jail breakouts.

The trailer offers a sneak peek into the film's eccentric universe, featuring Manoj as Inspector Zende, a clever cop summoned to apprehend the flashy and fashionable swimsuit murderer, Carl Bhojraj, who breaks out of prison.

Zende’s elders rely on him since he had caught Carl fifteen years earlier too. Together with his team of quirky Mumbai police officers, Zende pursues the trail of the killer ranked as 'Interpol’s most wanted.'

The trailer is packed with humorous, slapstick scenes among the team as they employ eccentric aliases to capture Carl and find themselves in intense situations. The chase speeds through urban areas and concludes in Goa, where the trailer wraps up with Zende dramatically stating his name while standing confidently before his team.

Discussing the character, Manoj mentioned in a press release, “What intrigued me about Inspector Zende was that he didn’t seek fame — he was simply performing his duties, yet apprehended one of the most infamous criminals two times. His courage, wit, and that unmistakable Mumbai essence make his journey genuinely motivating.

Encountering him was akin to entering a storybook, filled with a wealth of narratives to share. Engaging with him allowed me to immerse myself in a realm that is both rough and enjoyable. Inspector Zende Release Date

Netflix movie, Inspector Zende is directed by Chinmay D Mandlekar and is all set to release on 5th of September. The action-packed streets of Mumbai in the 1970s and 1980s serve as the backdrop for Inspector Zende.
