Luv Ranjan, the filmmaker behind the massively popular Pyaar Ka Punchnama franchise, is back with a brand-new story on friendship and romance. The Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar trailer dropped this week, introducing six completely new faces to the industry: Sparsh Walia, Alisha Chopra, Kunal Vaid, Sakshi Vaidya, Tushar Chhibber, and Sargun Kaur Luthra.
Despite being an entirely fresh cast, the Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar trailer carries a very familiar energy. Anyone who grew up on the Punchnama films will instantly recognise the tone, especially since Sparsh Walia bears an uncanny resemblance to Kartik Aaryan, right down to a rant-like monologue moment near the end of the trailer that feels like a direct throwback to the franchise that first made Kartik Aaryan a household name.

The story follows three friends who show up at their school reunion and, of course, run straight into their old school crushes. What starts off as a nostalgic little reunion quickly spirals as old feelings come rushing back and everyone gets pulled into their respective pasts all over again. Friendships start feeling the strain, love takes a messier turn than anyone expected, and things just get complicated from there.
What's actually different this time, compared to Luv Ranjan's earlier work, is that the core friend group includes a woman - something the original Punchnama trilogy got a fair bit of criticism for missing.
The group talks about their love lives pretty openly with each other and actually leans on one another for advice, instead of just bottling everything up, which gives the film a slightly more balanced take on friendship and romance than what fans might be expecting.
