About Ek Din
Ek Din is a romantic drama starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi as lead stars. It is a remake of 2016 Thai film ‘One Day’ that left audiences heartbroken. The film is now available to watch in theaters from today (1 May 2026).
This film marks Sai Pallavi’s bollywood debut and also a great opportunity for Junaid Khan to showcase his talent and acting skills once again on the big screens.
Ek Din Story
Ek Din tells the tale of an IT employee, Dinesh (Junaid Khan), a timid and kind young man who remains unnoticed by others. He leads an ordinary life when he spots a lovely girl in the office, Meera (Sai Pallavi). Yet, his pleasant fantasies are swiftly disrupted upon discovering that Meera is seeing her supervisor in the same workplace. The whole office crew travels to Japan for a five-day getaway, where Meera learns that her boss/lover is joyfully married and his wife is expecting a child.
Devastated, she roams by herself in a tempestuous night, until Dinesh discovers her. In the hospital, she regains consciousness with TGA (temporary global amnesia), which wipes her memory for a full day. Dinesh seizes that day as his perfect chance to win Meera over and dedicates the whole day to being with her. However, what happens when Dinesh ultimately faces Meera with reality?

Aamir Khan initiated the advance ticket sales for his son Junaid's movie 'Ek Din' rather early. Nevertheless, news outlets assert that the film has been met with a highly negative reception. Trade analysts believe there is a lack of genuine enthusiasm for the film among viewers.

- Sai Pallavi and the stunning scenery of Japan are the film's only worthwhile elements. Aside from that, all other aspects are disheartening and, at certain moments, truly irritating. Junaid Khan appears fatigued consistently, as though he shows disinterest in his performance.
- Sunil Pandey takes cues from the Thai movie ‘One Day’, yet does not honor the source material effectively. The narrative comes across as uninspiring, and the romantic scenes lack a lasting effect. The movie fails to generate genuine emotions, making it difficult for viewers to remain engaged.
- Many of the lines spoken by Junaid seem frustrating. In reality, no dialogue or monologue in the film makes a memorable impact.
- The title song is the only remarkable track in the film. The remaining songs seem superfluous and do not contribute to the story.
Overall, Ek Din is a one-time watch for those who enjoy slow romantic dramas, but it fails to create a strong emotional impact and leaves you expecting much more.
Box Office Competition - Ek Din Vs Raja Shivaji
As the industry honors Maharashtra Day, two unique films - the Marathi historical epic Raja Shivaji and the heartfelt romance Ek Din - are debuting in theaters with moderate expectations on 1 May 2026.
