The family rift is only made worse by Hamit's scathing, public humiliation. Ali's grief and rage from this incident reverberate throughout his life and add to his mounting disenchantment with the life he believed he could reconstruct in Turkey after leaving the United States.

Under intense rumours, pressure increases when Emre develops a relationship with the local newspaper's owner. As the mayoral contest approaches, a wild pig hunt breaks out in the town center.
After a local young lady is raped, the recently appointed state prosecutor, who is in charge of a village beset by a deteriorating water supply, finds himself embroiled in a worsening situation that causes him to experience both personal and professional upheaval.
