Because we are just as curious about them as we were about the school child who ate worms. The film of Sion Sono The Forest of Love is fucking enthralled by what its own serial murderer does, but it is furiously uninterested in who he is.

An older man simultaneously manipulates, seduces, and abuses a shy young lady with strict parents and a small group of student filmmakers. Even in cases of murder, they do as he says.

5. Monster

8. Rurouni Kenshin

Following the conclusion of the battle, Kenshin vanishes, leaving behind his formidable reputation and an endless list of adversaries. The promise of a former assassin to never kill again is put to the test.

The movie tells the tale of Himura Kenshin, a vagrant who was once known as the renowned assassin Hitokiri Battōsai, and centers on made-up events that occurred in Japan in the early Meiji Period.

9. Character

A good-hearted man wants to make comics, but he struggles with villains and terrible things. When he discovers a family that was classified as idealised but is now extinct, things take an unexpected turn. 

Akira Nagai's 2017 comedy Teiichi: Battle of Supreme High left a favourable impression on viewers around the world. Nagai hasn't produced many films since. He took Jun Mayuzuki's Koi wa Ameagari no You ni to the big screen in 2018.

He attempted to combine directing and screenwriting last year and produced Character. It features Jan Decleir's character, Dreverhaven, a lonely and stony bailiff, and was the Dutch winner of this year's Academy Award for best foreign film. Christopher Walken, Elias Koteas, Virginia Madsen, Eric Stoltz, and Viggo Mortensen feature in the 1995 American fantasy horror-thriller The Prophecy. Gregory Widen wrote and directed it. It is the first movie in the Prophecy series, which has four sequels.

With a primary focus on the battle's effects on Earth, it narrates the tale of rebellious angels fighting a second war in heaven against God's favouritism for humanity. 

The film, which delves into the realm of possession, exorcism, and obscure Christian theology-mostly made up-pits Koteas as Thomas Dagget, a former Roman Catholic seminarian turned LAPD detective caught up in the ensuing chaos in the American southwest, and Walken as the archangel Gabriel at the center of the conflict.

12. The Dark Maidens

The plot is turned on its axis by a revelatory twist in the second half, as is so common in Japanese mysteries, and the protagonists spend the rest of the movie giving long, explanatory monologues outlining their motivations. Once again, an initially intriguing setup devolves into a ridiculously unrealistic revenge tale that has no emotional catharsis or shock value.
