Param Sundari Review: An Outdated Rom-Com That Misses the Mark

“So, what happens when high-tech matchmaking meets old-school romance?” That’s the question Param Sundari tries to answer, but unfortunately, it trips over its own ambition.

The film, which stars Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra, promises a lighthearted and endearing story, but does it live up to the hype?

Fans are left questioning whether the story's charm was lost in the process due to forced humor and predictable turns. Let's examine what functions well, what doesn't, and why this romantic comedy seems more dated than enjoyable.

Param Sundari Story

The tale revolves around Param, a wealthy young man who enjoys putting his father’s (Sanjay Kapoor) money into new businesses. He discovers Soulmates, an application created to utilize cutting-edge technology to identify an individual's ideal partner. While testing the app to demonstrate a point to his father, it leads him to Sundari, a homestay proprietor in Cochin. What comes next is intended to be whimsical, genuine... yet falls as flat as an unfunny joke.

The primary issue is the lead coupling. The romance lacks a spark that makes it credible. Janhvi puts in great effort to portray her character, frequently shouldering scenes alone, but her attempts falter against Sidharth’s unchanging, flat performance. Even when they just gaze into each other's eyes, Janhvi's eyes encounter a barrier. The initial half plods along with jokes that fail to resonate and moments that could have succeeded with better chemistry. The latter half drags on more, meandering to a conclusion you could foresee in your dreams.

Twitter Review Of Param Sundari

Bollywood frequently tries to merge northern and southern cultural elements for broader Indian resonance. Chennai Express excelled with its Hindi-Tamil blend, whereas Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan's Hindi-Telugu combination failed terribly. Likewise, Param Sundari attempts to blend Hindi and Malayalam; however, content remains paramount.

The writing comes off as childish, featuring forced plot twists and overblown scenarios. For instance, depicting Kerala women as easily influenced by outsiders seems superficial and troubling. Although this may attract casual viewers, it distances those seeking richness and enchantment.

The humor is contrived and unproductive. Scenes like the elephant scene, the ring-hunting drama in the lake, and the church romance seem pointless and juvenile. Overall, Param Sundari struggles with its artificial emotions and predictability, lacking emotional resonance.

Box Office Collection Day 1

The attendance at matinee screenings of Param Sundari has been mediocre, falling short of Rs 50 lakhs. According to reports, the Janhvi and Sidharth film had collected Rs 45 lakhs by noon today.

Param Sundari aims for magic but falls short, leaving viewers with a forgettable rom-com experience. Sometimes, even star power can’t save a story that lacks spark.
