What Is The Story Of Toxic?
Toxic Movie is set against the backdrop of 1980s Goa and its underground drug mafia. Yash plays a dual role here, appearing as both Raya, a hardened gangster patriarch, and his son Rumi, also called Ticket, whose worldview stands in direct conflict with his father's. What starts as a father-son story slowly unfolds into a much bigger tale of betrayal, power and personal redemption within a criminal underworld.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film leans into moral grey areas rather than a straightforward hero-versus-villain plot. The trailer hints at a web of shifting loyalties among the women in Raya's orbit, each pulled into the chaos in her own way, building up to a dramatic face-off between Yash's two characters. It's easily one of Yash's upcoming movie projects that fans have waited the longest for, and the wait is now down to its final hours.

Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups Advance Booking
Yash's upcoming movie has been setting the ticket counters on fire ever since pre-sales opened on August 21. Within the first 32 hours itself, the film had crossed Rs 11.92 crore from over 2.7 lakh tickets, and the momentum has barely slowed down since. By the second day, collections had jumped past Rs 18 crore with more than 4.7 lakh tickets sold nationwide, and the Kannada version alone was pulling in a massive share of that number.
As things stand closer to release, Toxic has crossed Rs 33 crore in advance bookings from around 6 lakh tickets sold, putting it just behind Yash's own KGF: Chapter 2 pre-release pace.
Karnataka, being Yash's home state, continues to lead the charge, with Bengaluru alone contributing several crores worth of bookings. The Hindi version is also gaining serious ground, with National Chains like PVR Inox and Cinepolis reporting brisk sales in North India. With Telugu and Tamil markets yet to open at full strength, trade analysts believe this Kiara Advani movie and Yash starrer could still climb significantly before release day.
Toxic Budget And Cast Fees
Toxic is being described as one of the most expensive Indian films ever made, with reported budget estimates ranging between Rs 800-1000 crore depending on the source. That scale explains why even the film's supporting cast commanded premium fees.
According to reports, Yash's own fee for Yash's upcoming movie is estimated between Rs 50 crore, along with backend profit sharing, given his added role as co-writer and producer through his banner Monster Mind Creations.
On the female cast side, this Kiara Advani reportedly earned around Rs 15 crore, a steep 114 percent hike from her previous South Indian project. Nayanthara is said to have charged somewhere between Rs 12-18crore, while Rukmini Vasanth reportedly took home Rs 3-5 crore. Huma Qureshi and Tara Sutaria are both said to have earned in the Rs 2-3 crore range for their key roles.
Toxic Hyderabad Event Turned Into A Scary Moment
Not everything around the promotions has gone smoothly. A pre-release event for the film at Malla Reddy University in Hyderabad turned chaotic on August 22, when a large sound box stand collapsed while Yash was addressing the crowd. Some fans had reportedly climbed onto the speaker stand to get a better view, and the structure gave way, injuring four people, including a student who suffered a fractured leg, with one woman briefly losing consciousness.
Yash reportedly paused his speech the moment he noticed the commotion and asked organisers to check on the injured before continuing. Cyberabad Police have since registered a case against the venue and event management over the incident, and it sparked wider conversation online about crowd safety at large-scale film promotions.
With advance bookings already past Rs 33 crore, Yash's upcoming movie Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups looks set for a massive opening when it finally releases in theatres on 26 August 2026.
