Tormented by a youthful love disrupted by the 1947 Partition of India, 95-year-old Ishar Singh Grewal (Naseeruddin Shah) recounts his tale to his grandson Nirvair (Diljit Dosanjh), as the past emerges through recollections of displacement, desire, and an affection abandoned in present-day Pakistan.
Vedang Raina portrays the younger Ishar, while Sharvari Wagh takes on the role of the woman he could never go back to. Written and directed by Imtiaz Ali, featuring music by A.R. Rahman, the film hit theaters in June 2026, emerging as one of the year's major Hindi sleeper successes.
