Abhishek Bachchan, the prominent Bollywood actor, recently made headlines for acquiring six apartments in the Oberoi Sky City development by Oberoi Realty, located in Mumbai's Borivali area along the Western Express Highway. The transaction, totaling Rs 15.42 crore, was finalized with the registration of these properties on May 28, 2024.
The apartments are situated on the 57th floor of the high-rise building and come with ten parking spaces. According to the registration documents, the first apartment spans 1,101 sq ft with a price tag of Rs 3.42 crore. The second and third apartments, both 252 sq ft in size, were purchased for Rs 79 lakh each. The fourth apartment, covering 1,101 sq ft, was bought for Rs 3.52 crore, while the fifth, spanning 1,094 sq ft, was acquired for Rs 3.39 crore. Similarly, the sixth apartment was priced at Rs 3.39 crore. An occupation certificate has been issued for the entire building, ensuring its readiness for habitation.
This investment adds to Abhishek Bachchan's existing real estate portfolio, which includes previous dealings with Oberoi Realty. Notably, in August 2021, he sold a flat in Oberoi 360 West in Worli for Rs 45.75 crore, a significant increase from the approximately Rs 41 crore he paid for it in 2014.
Despite his extensive property investments, Abhishek Bachchan currently resides with his parents, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, at their residence, Jalsa, located in Juhu. In a 2023 interview, he qouted, “I get it. Society, culture, values, everything changes and adapts. In today’s fast-paced life, if you’re living in a city like Mumbai, you have very little time for family. I cannot think of not living with my parents, especially at the age at which they are now. My father’s 81, my mother’s 75.”
The Oberoi Sky City development is also home to other celebrities such as Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor and his spouse, Mira Kapoor. Earlier in February 2023, Radhakishan Damani, the founder of D'Mart, along with family and close associates, made headlines by purchasing several flats in the same project for a whopping Rs 1,238 crore.
Abhishek Bachchan's latest real estate acquisitions underscore his continued investment in Mumbai's property market, reflecting both his financial acumen and strategic investment decisions within the city's booming real estate sector.
