Salman Khan’s Role In Maatrabhumi

The war drama features Salman Khan as Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, the Indian Army officer who sacrificed his life in the Galwan Valley confrontation while protecting Indian land. He was part of the 16 Bihar Regiment and received the Maha Vir Chakra posthumously, which is India’s second-highest award for bravery.

The confrontation occurred on June 15, 2020, in the Galwan Valley of eastern Ladakh. Twenty members of the Indian Army died in the clash, leading to a significant strain in the relations between India and China.

In February 2021, China confirmed that five military personnel died in the event, although various reports indicated that the actual figure might be greater.

Bollywood Hungama cited a source stating, “The release of Battle of Galwan has been delayed, and it is now set for August 14, 2026.” Salman Khan and the producers believe it would be a more suitable date because India's Independence Day is on August 15.

The sense of patriotism will be unprecedented, and Battle of Galwan would be a perfect movie to enjoy during this time. Although the producers of Salman Khan’s movie have not made an official announcement yet, an update is anticipated soon.

If the reports are accurate, Battle of Galwan premieres on August 14, and will compete at the box office with Kartik Aaryan’s Naagzilla and Sunny Deol’s Lahore 1947.

Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace aims to honor the bravery and sacrifice of Indian soldiers. The film promises an intense war drama highlighting courage, patriotism, and the cost of conflict.
