Kaylee Hottle was a deaf American actress born on May 1, 2007. At 9 years old, she had her film debut in 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong, portraying a deaf, orphaned indigenous Iwi girl who is saved by Kong on Skull Island.
She came back for 2024’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, where her character’s bond with Dr. Ilene Andrews (Rebecca Hall), an anthropological linguist involved in government monster research, is central to the plot.
How Kaylee Hottle Died?
Kaylee Hottle passed away in a car accident in Maryland early Tuesday morning, according to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office. She was eighteen. Hottle was among two passengers in the car when it veered off the road and collided with a culvert in Ijamsville prior to 3 a.m.
According to a news release from the sheriff's office, the driver was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, while the other passenger refused medical care. The sheriff's office stated that excessive speed is thought to be a contributing factor in the ongoing investigation of the crash.

Inspiration For Deaf Community
Kaylee was among the limited number of deaf actors in mainstream film and television. Her father, Joshua Hottle, also has the same condition, and it was noted that it is hereditary. He verified the information using American Sign Language.
Kaylee was spotted in addition to the Godzilla films in the Magnum P.I. TV series and was set to appear in the upcoming film What Doesn’t Kill Us. After her passing, tributes began to flood in from all over the industry, with prominent figures such as Millie Bobbie Brown, Marlee Matlin, and Troy Kotsur offering their condolences.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Kaylee hailed from a completely deaf family and began her career in commercials advocating for the deaf community, such as the video interpreting service Convo. She had proficiency in American Sign Language.
Kaylee Hottle began her acting career with commercials in 2017 at the age of nine. Her big breakthrough came in 2021 when she was cast as Jia in Godzilla vs. Kong. Casting director Sarah Halley Finn was looking for a deaf actor to play the deaf character and found Kaylee through a recommendation from an assistant director who had previously seen her in a Convo commercial.
