According to O’ Romeo Trailer, the movie takes place in the rough streets of Mumbai, featuring Shahid Kapoor as a notorious gangster, a brutal anti-hero with a well-known reputation. On a beautiful day, Tripti Dimri encounters him while seeking safety, but then, a relationship blossoms filled with numerous ups and downs.

Nana Patekar Walks Out From O’ Romeo Trailer Event

Actor Nana Patekar is recognized for his punctuality. The seasoned actor is recognized for arriving on sets and other work obligations promptly. That is precisely what occurred on Wednesday when the 75-year-old arrived at the location for O’ Romeo release at noon. The event took place at a multiplex in Mumbai, and media were present as well. Nevertheless, Nana left the event in a hurry after waiting for 60 minutes due to the absence of his co-stars.

A video that has recently emerged online depicts the actor exiting the auditorium and heading to the elevator while the organizers attempt to persuade him. The video depicts Nana gesturing angrily at his watch and speaking to the individual attempting to persuade him to remain. In a different clip, the actor is observed signaling a 'no' to an organizer near the elevator.

What Is O’ Romeo All About?

The O’ Romeo trailer was released on Wednesday, and the plot, claimed to be ‘inspired by true events,’ is reportedly drawn from Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai. This is the same book that inspired Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Gangubai Kathiawadi. In this text, the author and Vikram Chandra recount the tale of Hussain Ustara, portrayed by Shahid Kapoor, as he narrates his encounter with Sapna Didi, played by Triptii Dimri, who was determined to assassinate Dawood Ibrahim because she believed he was responsible for her husband’s death.

O’ Romeo Cast & Release Date 

Avinash Tiwary plays the central villain, while Disha Patani delivers a short but memorable performance in a dance number. The movie additionally includes Nana Patekar in an important role, along with a special appearance by Vikrant Massey.

Vishal  Bhardwaj’s O’ Romeo Controversy

The debate over Vishal Bhardwaj's forthcoming movie O'Romeo has taken a new twist, as Sanober Shaikh, daughter of Hussain Ustara, challenges assertions that author Hussain Zaidi received permission prior to mentioning her family.

In an exclusive interview, Sanober claimed that both the filmmaker and the author failed to ask for permission.

How The Controversy Began?

The dispute started shortly after the O'Romeo teaser was unveiled, as Sanober Shaikh accused the filmmakers of not obtaining authorization from her family before producing a film she asserts is inspired by her father Hussain Ustara's life. Her attorney later issued a legal notice to the producer and director Sajid Nadiadwala.

In reply, the creators mentioned that O'Romeo is not inspired by Hussain Ustara. At the film's trailer launch in Mumbai on January 21, Vishal Bhardwaj addressed the matter, explaining that the film draws inspiration from a chapter in Hussain Zaidi's Mafia Queens of Mumbai, and that the rights were obtained via the book.

Sanober Shaikh's Allegations Against O’ Romeo

Following director Vishal Bhardwaj's comments at O'Romeo's trailer launch about permission responsibilities resting with the source material's author, one of the media teams contacted Sanober Shaikh to confirm if author Hussain Zaidi sought her family's approval while penning Mafia Queens of Mumbai.

Sanober strongly rejected this. "Definitely not." "We weren't even aware of when his book came out," she stated. She stated that the family learned about the content much later via one of Zaidi's Instagram live streams. "That was when we discovered that he had extensively written and talked about my father in the book and during the broadcast - and that as well inaccurately," she stated.

Sanober stated that she promptly tried to reach out to Zaidi. "We communicated with him, and the sole reply we received was, 'We are a team, we will talk to sir and respond to you.'" "However, days went by following that," she stated. She also stated that she advised him to remove the broadcast and cease disseminating what she termed as false information, warning that legal action would follow if he did not comply.

Is Sanober Shaikh Father’s Image Misrepresented?

When asked whether her father's portrayal had been distorted, Sanober replied, "Yes, definitely." He has distorted facts solely for his own fame. My father's name is being misused, with entirely incorrect details included. "Occurrences that never actually took place have been incorporated."

With intense storytelling, strong performances, and real-world debates adding fuel, O’ Romeo is shaping up to be a film that won’t fade away quietly. All eyes are now on its February 2026 release.
