Overview
The film opens with the disclosure of a murder that took place forty years prior in Malakkapara, Idukki. Bhaskaran (Siddique) reveals in a Facebook Live session that a woman was murdered and interred by his associates during the years 1984-85. This discovery places Vincent (Manoj K Jayan) at risk, since his name is brought up.
Bhaskaran’s admission results in the finding of a skeleton at the site he indicated. The matter is subsequently handled by Vivek Gopinath (Asif Ali), the SHO at the Malakkapara police station. The young officer is resolved to reveal the truth surrounding the skeleton.
As the inquiry unfolds, the narrative takes a captivating twist. As guaranteed by the creators, Rekhachithram explores a different version of history. Authors Ramu Sunil and John Manthrikal craft a fictional story that runs alongside the filming of Mammootty's Kathodu Kathoram, helmed by Bharathan. The narrative focuses on Rekha (Anaswara Rajan), who is thought to have been killed while shooting for Kathodu Kathoram.
