Dunki box office collection Day 5: Shah Rukh Khan’s film benefits from Christmas holiday, approaches Rs 150 cr mark in India

Dunki Box Office Collection Day 5: The box office of Dunki, the Shah Rukh Khan-led film, benefited from the long Christmas weekend. The film, which started slowly with a collection of Rs 29.2 crore, saw a decline on its second day (Rs 20.12 crore) but gained momentum on Saturday (Rs 25.61 crore) and reached its peak on Sunday and grossed more than its premiere day (30.7 million rupees). On Monday, Christmas Day, the film once again witnessed an impressive response despite strong competition from Prabhas' Salar.

Dunki's fifth-day box office collection in India has been clocked at Rs 22.50 crore, ADM reported. The film's five-day domestic collection is Rs 128.13 crore. Red Chillies Entertainment, the production house behind the film, shared that Dunki's global box office has touched Rs 211.13 crore after four days of release and is heading towards the Rs 250 crore mark with Christmas Day collections.

The Rajkumar Hirani-directed drama had an overall Hindi occupancy rate of 39.53%, with the maximum number of viewers recorded during the evening shows. Now, the film must maintain steady momentum at the box office throughout the week to capitalize on the upcoming New Year's weekend. Moreover, its competitor Salar is earning a lot every day. On Monday, it raised Rs 42.50 crore, almost double of what Dunki was able to raise. According to Sacnilk, Salaar has managed to earn Rs 251.60 crore within four days of its release.

Also, the chances of Dunki coming close to Rajkumar Hirani's latest film Sanju look bleak. The Ranbir Kapoor starrer had the same rating as Dunki on its fifth day (Rs 22.10 crore), even though it was not a festive release. Right now, according to industry estimates, the film will not do much at the box office.

Dunki, which also stars Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal and Boman Irani, among others, is based on the concept of 'donkey flight', a method of illegal immigration. The film's success left Shah Rukh Khan, who already has two hit films to his name this year, Jawan and Pathaan, overwhelmed. On Sunday, he addressed his fans from his home in Mannat and expressed his gratitude for all the love they are showering on Dunki.
