JAB WE MET (2007)

A dull and sad guy meeting a happy quirky and full of energy girl! Sounds like a story doesn’t it? Arguably one of the best romantic comedies and a personal favorite this movie made it huge when it released at the box office. This movie can also be said to be one of Imtiaz Ali’s finest work along with two power-packed actors, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shahid Kapoor. This movie served as a trendsetter in Bollywood and we then witnessed many movies with the same concept but none of them could beat this classic.

HUM TUM (2004)

The movie is about a boy and a girl who are totally opposite of each other end up falling in love in a huge span of 7 years! The film takes the battle between the two genders on a whole new level with its witty one-liners and sarcastic comments. The movie has one of Saif Ali Khan’s best performances and Rani Mukherjee’s impeccable acting. The movie is definitely one of the best romantic comedies ever produced by Bollywood.

KAL HO NA HO (2003)

K-Jo’s Kal Ho Na Ho is a 15-year-old movie but is still a treat for the eyes. The movie is about a terminally ill man who is about to die trying to unite his lady love with her best friend. All the three lead actors of this movie- Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta have delivered outstanding performances. More like an emotional roller coaster the movie has romance which will make you want to fall in love, the comedy will crack you up and emotions that will surely make you shed a tear or two. So, keep that box of tissues handy.

BAND BAAJA BARAT (2010)

Two small-time business partners taste the sweetness of success when they make huge profits while working as wedding planners. But things take a U-turn when the two eventually fall in love. the movie has one of the most epic and realist portrayal of Delhiites ever to be shown by a Bollywood movie. The film was also director Maneesh Sharma’s debutant and earned well at the box office.

SAATHIYA (2010)

Vivek Oberoi and Rani Mukherjee starrer Saathiya is both emotional and light humored. The movie is about what happens during the ‘happily ever after’ which is the honeymoon phase of the relationships. The first half is light witted and humorous while the second will leave you grabbing a box of tissues and believing in the happily ever after for sure.

YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI (2013)

One of the highest grossing films of Bollywood, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani or popularly known as YJHD was directed by Ayan Mukherji. The movie starred Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone with Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur in supporting roles. The movie bagged awards for being the best film while Ranbir getting an award for the best actor. Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur were also given awards for the best supporting male and female actors respectively. The movie is about the relentless young generation and perfectly captures their passion, friendships, love and their spirit to always be alive!

NAMASTEY LONDON (2007)

A small-town Punjab boy gets married to a high class rich spoiled NRI girl from Britain. The boy falls in love with her but later finds out that she already has someone in her life. The movie is about how he woos her and ends up winning her heart. Akshay Kumar’s heartfelt performance is the special highlight of this movie. The movie also has Katrina Kaif for the female lead role.

DIL CHAHTA HAI (2001)

One of the very few movies based on friendships and love Dil Chahta Hai is like a breath of fresh air. The movie stars the famous trio Amir Khan, Akshay Khanna and Saif Ali Khan. The movie captures different love stories and yet has a comic touch to it. It portrays how there is so much hustle bustle in the life of three guys who are right out of college and is something every youngster would be able to relate to. The movie also had Amir and Preity Zinta’s cute and memorable romance.

ISHQ (1997)

From hating to falling in love with each other, this movie is as beautiful as it gets. It stars Amir Khan, Ajay Devgn, Kajol and Juhi Chawla in the lead roles. From annoying each other to protecting each other with a series of hilarious pranks played upon each other (like the ghost prank and the toothpaste one) and then finally standing for your loved one against the entire world, this movie is the epitome of Bollywood Romantic Comedy movie.

DUM LAGA KE HAISHA (2015)

Even before its release, there was a lot of controversy surrounding the plus-sized actress Bhumi Pednekar’s role. The actress plays the lead role of Sandhya and is everything which a dream heroine is not supposed to be. She plays the role of an overweight girl who does not only have no tolerance for wrongs done to her but is also willingly seductive towards her own husband when he seems least interested in her. Ayushmann Khurana plays the role of her husband, who is no less than an average loser. The movie has some very talented actors like Sanjay Mishra and is set in a small town with a below middle-class family. The movie is a sweet flick which is different and unique from soapy Bollywood dramas.
