Hillary Clinton has said, “Women are the largest untapped reservoir of talent in the world.” We can see this come true in our very own world of Hindi cinema too. The movie world which was earlier considered as male dominated arena, have seen remarkable change in terms of few handful of women who have made a niche for themselves, in last few decades.

As we celebrate ‘International Women’s Day’, we bring you few gutsy women from entertainment industry that made their own rules and achieved success by following their own path.  Here are few women game changers of Bollywood-

Farah Khan, Director & Choreographer

Ace choreographer Farah Khan had many years of experience working in the film industry before she ventured into direction. Farah obtained huge success with her debut movie ‘Om Shanti Om’ which also gave Bollywood its current number 1 actress, Deepika Padukone. Farah known for her jovial nature has proved that women are truly multi-taskers, as she herself juggles between her movie career, TV show appearances and her role as mother to adorable triplet- Czar, Diva and Anya.

Priyanka Chopra, Actress & Producer

Priyanka Chopra entered Bollywood after winning the prestigious Miss World title in 2000. After impressing the audience with her acting chops, PeeCee ventured into singing, which later resulted in her grabbing a stellar role in internationally acclaimed TV show ‘Quantico’.  Priyanka also acted in Hollywood movies. But at home, she took on the role of a movie producer and made couple of regional movies like ‘Ventilator’ (Marathi), ‘Sarvann’ (Punjabi), ‘Paua’ (Sikkimese) and ‘Bam Bam Bol Raha Hai Kashi’ (Bhojpuri).  In short time, Priyanka has named herself as the movie producer who can offer content driven cinema to the audience.

Ekta Kapoor, Producer

Ekta Kapoor, daughter of veteran actor Jeetendra is truly a game changer in Indian entertainment industry. Ekta who started her journey from small screen is one of the prominent names in Bollywood. After her winning the audience with her saas bahu sagas, Ekta captured silver screen and gave some captivating movies in crime, thriller and horror genre like, ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’, “Shootout At Wadala”, “Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai”, “The Dirty Picture”, “Ragini MMS” and “Ek Villain” to name a few.

Kareena Kapoor started her journey in Bollywood like any other star kid but soon made her own identity with her unique choices of movies. Kareena even managed to overshadow elder sister Karisma in terms of popularity. Kareena broke the norm of regular Bollywood actress by working shoulder-to-shoulder with top heroes even after post marriage. Her style quotient during pregnancy became topic of national discussion. Bebo soon after delivering baby Taimur was back in front of flashlights within few days. Kareena has proved that if you are confident nobody and no one can come in your way.

Prerna Arora, Producer

The latest name to be added in the list of women achievers in Bollywood is, Prerna Arora of KriArj Entertainment. The banner have produced some remarkable movies of present time namely- ‘Padman’, ‘Rustom’, ‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Pari’. Just 29 years old, Prerna is the youngest Bollywood producer which is all set for some big projects in the pipeline. Prerna has successfully carved a niche for herself in the creative world of movie making.
