North America is the biggest overseas market for the film, followed by the UK and Australia. As per the previous breakdown from October 26 by Sacnilk, the Hindi version was responsible for around 87 % of the advance collections in India. Maharashtra, Delhi and Karnataka topped the states. IMAX alone contributed nearly 25% of the advance collections despite being less than 4% of the total screenings.
The film is still on the back foot when compared with Dhurandhar 2 in India. Oneindia says that the advance sprawled above Rs 60 crore with previews included while Ramayana is still stuck with Rs 17.13 crore. The final figures would depend on the number of shows and screens added before the release.
Ramayana Part 1 Trailer: What the Footage Showed
The official trailer was released worldwide on July 30, 2026, at 4:15 am IST, during Brahma Muhurat. The trailer is nearly four minutes long. It starts in Lanka with Yash as Ravana, then moves to Ayodhya, where Arun Govil appears as King Dasharatha. The trailer progresses to Rama’s exile with Sita and Lakshmana, then comes to the part of Shurpanakha meeting the brothers and then to the abduction of Sita.
The music features the first pairing of Oscar winners A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, produced by T-Series, while the visual effects were done by DNEG.
The reactions were mixed. The calm Rama played by Ranbir Kapoor and Yash as Ravana got appreciation from viewers; however others criticized the Hindi dialogue in the trailer, claiming it was more focused on the VFX rather than the story.
Ramayana Part 1 Story : What Does the Film Cover?
The film adapts the Valmiki Ramayana as a two-part saga. Part 1 follows Rama’s life in Ayodhya, the events that lead to his exile, and the forest years with Sita and Lakshmana. Ravana’s plan to abduct Sita comes after Shurpanakha’s humiliation.
The makers have not officially said where Part 1 ends. Reports suggest it concludes around Sita’s abduction, with Hanuman’s larger role saved for Part 2, which is slated for Diwali 2027. Treat that as unconfirmed until the film is out.
