What Is The Story Of Netflix’s Maa Behen?

Centered on a troubled mother-daughter relationship, the film depicts Rekha (Madhuri Dixit), a woman who has dedicated her life to disregarding societal norms. Rekha faces constant judgment from those around her due to her clothing choices and her unapologetic demeanor.

The real story begins when Rekha contacts her daughters one evening, asserting that her neighbor, Gupta ji, portrayed by Ravi Kishan, was "murdered" in her home. What ensues is a tumultuous vortex of anxiety, deception, and dubious choices.

Suresh Triveni’s Maa Behen Reviews - Audience POV

As we said, Maa Behen released today (4 June) on Netflix and people started sharing their reviews on the film. Let’s read what they have written in their tweets!

A user wrote, “Maa Behen is a fun and engaging watch with brilliant performances by Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri, and Dhaarna. Strong writing and excellent direction by Suresh Triveni make it a perfect pick for a relaxing binge-watch.

Another wrote, “Maa Behen has a refreshing take and even entertains in parts, but falters in the screenplay as it moves ahead, and ends up being an average watch. Madhuri Dixit smashes the ball out of the park with her mind-blowing performance.”

Our POV - Should You Watch It?

After Subedaar and Daldal, I had very low expectations from Suresh Triveni's latest film. Thankfully, Maa Behen turns out to be a decent and entertaining Dark Comedy.

The film starts on a strong note with an interesting concept and quirky storytelling. However, the biggest drawback is its slow screenplay. Despite being only 2 hours and 7 minutes long, it feels much longer at times.

The climax is another weak point. You expect a stronger payoff and proper justice for the antagonist, but the ending feels underwhelming and leaves you with mixed feelings.

Overall, Maa Behen is a watchable dark comedy with some entertaining moments, but its slow pace and weak ending stop it from becoming something truly memorable.

Other OTT Releases This Week

Apart from Maa Behen, there are several New OTT Movies & Shows which are scheduled to release this week. It includes Gullak Season 5, Cape Fear, Patriot, Pyramid Scheme, Brown, and Office Romance.

If we talk about theatrical releases, the list includes Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, Sarpanch, Peddi, Mollywood Times, Bandar, and many others.

Maa Behen is an entertaining one-time watch that benefits from its performances and unique concept. While the slow pacing and weak ending prevent it from being truly memorable, it still offers enough drama and dark comedy to keep viewers engaged.
