How It All Started?

The dispute supposedly started after Excel Entertainment, the company headed by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, lodged a complaint in April. The grievance stated that Ranveer had entered into a three-film agreement with the production company.

According to the complaint, the producers requested compensation for the significant pre-production expenses that had been incurred before the actor reportedly exited the project. Those who don’t know, Ranveer Singh left Don 3 after his movie Dhurandhar released in theaters in December 2025.

Reason Behind Ranveer Singh’s Exit From Don 3

Ranveer Singh was formally declared as the new Don in 2023. He assumed the legendary role that was earlier portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. A promotional video created significant excitement online, yet the project subsequently faced setbacks and ambiguity.

Multiple online reports state that Ranveer left the film because of creative disagreements with the producers. A report from Free Press Journal stated that Ranveer desired a more intense and aggressive portrayal of the character, featuring harsher language and increased violence, while Farhan Akhtar allegedly aimed to adhere more closely to his initial concept for the franchise.

Few reports indicated that Ranveer was dissatisfied with the ongoing production delays and the lack of a finalized script.Nonetheless, it's important to mention that Ranveer Singh has not made any official announcement regarding his departure from Don 3.

Excel Entertainment Sought Rs 45 Crore From Ranveer Singh

Industry reports indicated that Excel Entertainment sought approximately Rs 40-45 crore in compensation from the actor, referencing monetary losses incurred during pre-production. The issue allegedly came to the attention of the Producers Guild of India for mediation before ultimately being referred to the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE).

FWICE stands for the Federation of Western India Cine Employees, which serves as an umbrella organization for workers in the Hindi film and television industry, comprising 38 affiliated unions, including technicians, crew members, actors, and directors. The Indian Film and Television Directors' Association (IFTDA) is one of the key organizations in this ecosystem.

How Ranveer Singh Reacts To FWICE Ban?

Following his ban by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees, which also requested that the film industry refrain from collaborating with him after Farhan Akhtar's complaint regarding his sudden departure from Don 3, Ranveer Singh has now released a statement through his spokesperson.

The statement indicated that Ranveer has decided to stay quiet regarding the entire matter. Ranveer Singh greatly respects the film industry and all those involved with the Don franchise. Amid the latest updates regarding Don 3, he has deliberately opted for silence, feeling that professional matters and personal relationships should be managed with dignity, maturity, and mutual respect,” it stated.

The Ranveer Singh and Don 3 controversy has sparked major discussion across Bollywood and social media. While several reports continue to surface, fans are now waiting for an official clarification from both the actor and the makers.
