Citadel Season 2 Story Explained

The narrative begins with CIA operant James Hutch (Jack Reynor) crashing an exclusive party in an effort to locate Paulo Braga (Gabriel Leone), the successor of one of the eight influential families that govern Manticore. Soon enough, Mason Kane (Richard Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra) find themselves pulled back into peril after attempting to create more peaceful lives.

Mason must face the consequences of his past and his connections to Manticore, while Nadia, residing with her daughter Asha, is compelled to return to the field when the danger approaches her home. Bernard Orlick (Stanley Tucci) persists in working behind the scenes as he assembles a group that features newcomers such as Hutch.

Events take a turn when Mason kills Paulo while trying to rescue Abby (Ashleigh Cummings), who has been captured by Joana (Merle Dandridge), Paulo's wife. Abby quickly becomes involved in Joana’s broader scheme after a chip is inserted into her, enabling her actions to be managed from a distance.

What Happened In The Last Episode Of Citadel Season 2?

In episode 7, we discover that Bernard, who appeared to oppose the villains from the beginning, had a hidden agenda that he hadn't revealed to anyone earlier.

He was aware that Nadia and the others would resist, so he used them to have the president eliminated and acquire Manticore from the new president. Nadia and the others are appalled, particularly because his scheme led to Mason's death, and Bernard appears to show no regret regarding it.

Priyanka Chopra’s Citadel Season 2 Review - What Works?

  • Priyanka Chopra Jonas shines as Nadia and brings energy to the series with her strong screen presence and action scenes.
  • The show features stylish visuals, international locations, and a big-scale setup that looks visually appealing at times.
  • The production value and cast lineup are impressive, making the series look grand and premium.
  • Nadia’s entry sequence and a few action scenes manage to create excitement for viewers.

Citadel Season 2 Review - What Doesn’t Work?

  • The non-linear storytelling feels confusing and makes it difficult to connect with the characters quickly.
  • Despite short episodes, the narrative moves slowly and tests the audience’s patience.
  • The chemistry between the lead characters feels weak, reducing the emotional impact.
  • Many action scenes look repetitive and predictable without any major surprise factor.
  • Compared to Citadel: Honey Bunny, the second season feels less engaging and emotionally weaker.
  • The scale and intensity expected from a global spy thriller are missing in several episodes.

Overall, Citadel Season 2 has a strong cast and stylish presentation, but weak storytelling and slow pacing stop it from becoming a gripping spy thriller. While Priyanka Chopra Jonas delivers a solid performance, the series struggles to maintain excitement throughout.
