Harish Shankar's Pawan Kalyan-starring film Ustaad Bhagat Singh debuted at Rs 31.5 crores despite fierce opposition from filmmaker Aditya Dhar's Ranveer Singh-led Dhurandhar: The Revenge. It's unclear, though, if Ustaad Bhagat Singh will be able to sustain the momentum in the upcoming days given that the Telugu action movie is getting mostly negative reviews. 

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the actioner earned an India net collection of Rs 31.5 crore on Thursday, March 19. They Call Him OG (2025), Pawan Kalyan's previous film, opened at Rs 63.75 crore in the domestic box office after collecting Rs 21 crore through paid screenings the day before the worldwide premiere, so Ustaad Bhagat Singh's opening day performance has inflicted a serious blow.

The movie allegedly received legal protection prior to its release, but the piracy problem still exists. A court granted an ex-parte temporary order to protect "Ustaad Bhagat Singh" from damaging internet information, according to The Statesman.

Ustaad Bhagat Singh tells the story of a tribal who grows up with strong values and fearless courage, inspired by his mentor who names him Bhagat Singh. As he faces powerful enemies, he stands firmly against injustice and fights evil forces.

On its first day, Ranveer Singh's film allegedly made Rs 102 crore at the box office.
