A source connected to the film's team recently spoke with Pinkvilla, where they shared insights about the cult-classic movie. The informant disclosed that the screenplay for the follow-up has been secured with the original actors coming back.
The follow-up will carry on the legacy and enchantment of the original movie. The source additionally clarified that 3 Idiots 2 will take place 15 years following the conclusion of the initial movie.

It should be noted that Rajkumar Hirani had intended to create a biopic of Dadasaheb Phalke featuring Aamir Khan, but it is currently paused. The source also disclosed that filming is anticipated to commence in the latter half of 2026.
