The film was released on 18 July 2025, and it stars Rishi and Meghana Raj in the lead roles. The story follows the hilarious journey of a small town youth, where situations land him in both laughter and trouble time and again.

The film's budget was around Rs.15 crores, but it surprised everyone by earning more than Rs.45 crores at the box office. The audiences praised it as a "feel-good comedy". The result was clear—the film turned out to be a superhit.

2. Upadhyaksha

The real medicine of laughter is found when “Upadhyaksha” (2024) comes on the screen. It is a brilliant Kannada comedy movie that tickled the audience with its village simplicity and comic touch. The film had a release date of 25 January 2024, and it stars Chikkanna, Malaika Vasupal, and P. Ravi Shankar in the lead roles. The story is about Narayana (Chikkanna), who becomes the vice president of "Chi-Thu Sangha" and makes everyone laugh with his funny antics and village politics.

The special thing behind the scenes was that director Anil Kumar brought the rural environment alive by shooting at real locations. The film had a budget of around Rs. 8 crore and grossed over Rs. 20 crore at the box office. The audience loved Chikkanna's comic timing and the light-hearted village story. The result was clear—the film turned out to be a hit. 

3. Ranganayaka

Sometimes comedy also acts as a mirror of reality, and this is what “Ranganayaka” (2024) tried to show. It is a Kannada comedy movie that presents a different style by mixing satire and laughter. The film was released on 8 March 2024 and stars Jaggesh, Guruprasad, and Rachitha Mahalakshmi in the lead roles. The story is about a filmmaker who starts reliving the memories of his past life through hypnotism and from there begins the tale of a fun but complicated journey.

The special thing behind the scenes was that director Guru Prasad himself wrote the story and also acted in it, which added a personal touch to the film. The budget of the film was around Rs. 12 crores, but it managed to earn only Rs. 5 crores at the box office. The audience did not like it much due to the story and presentation and the film proved to be a flop.

4. Bell Bottom

The charm of the 80s is back with the audience through “Bell Bottom” (2019)! This is a terrific Kannada comedy crime-thriller movie that gives the audience a dose of laughter, mystery, and nostalgia. The film released on 15th February 2019, starring Rishab Shetty (as Detective Divakara), Hariprriya, and Achyuth Kumar in the lead roles. The story revolves around a constable with a detective spirit who solves thefts that take place right on the doorstep of the police station - making for an interesting mix of humour and thrill.

The most interesting behind the scenes fact is that the film was shot in actual old structure locations to make the 80s setting realistic. Though the budget details are unclear, the film was a box office hit—it ran for over 100 days and became one of the biggest hits of 2019. Audiences praised it for its humor, characters, and great timing.

5. French Biryani

If the laughter is tremendous, it can be considered as delicious as a ‘French Biriyani’! It is a topline Kannada comedy movie that entertains the audience directly through OTT. The film was released on Amazon Prime Video on 24 July 2020, starring Danish Sait and Sal Yusuf in the lead roles. Also, characters like Rangayana Raghu, Disha Madan and Mahantesh Hiremath add colour to the story.

The story begins when a French visitor has to go on a three-day joyful-mission-like journey with an auto driver named Asgar, full of situations like mistaken identities, gangsters and police chases—a pure comedy of errors. Behind the scenes, director Pannaga Bharana infuses her Bangalore–to–Chennai travel experience with a comic touch, giving the film an authentic vibe. Though some found it to be less impactful due to the weak plot, overall it was considered a fun comedy worth watching once. 

Kannada comedy films have proven time and again that laughter is the greatest power. Be it a superhit like Bell Bottom or a unique story like French Biriyani—these films kept the audience laughing and engaged.
