The court affirmed the acquittal of the only accused, Santhosh Rao, explaining that the trial court had carefully examined the evidence and that a new investigation would not produce any additional advantages.
Soujanya's father, Chandappa Gowda, had requested the court to instruct the CBI to reopen the case; however, the High Court rejected the appeal, citing a lack of sufficient evidence against Santhosh Rao.
