AR Rahman and Saira Banu’s lawyer acknowledged that their marriage experienced both positive and negative moments. She also spoke out about connecting it with bassist Mohini Dey.
Renowned music composer AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu revealed their unexpected split after 29 years of marriage on Tuesday night. Several hours later, Mohini Dey, the bassist of Rahman, also revealed her split. This resulted in linking online information to see if there was any correlation between the two announcements. Nevertheless, Rahman and Banu's attorney has denied any correlation.
During a recent interview with Republic TV, Vandana Shah, a lawyer specializing in divorce and family law, discussed the divorce of her client, AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu. When questioned about whether their choice to separate was related to Mohini Dey's divorce, Shah made it clear that the two situations are unrelated.
She responded by saying, "Definitely not." There is absolutely no connection. The couple came to this decision independently. Furthermore, she also stated that Banu's final settlement has not been determined yet and guaranteed that it will be a friendly separation.
Discussing the official statement regarding the decision made out of "pain and agony" in their relationship, the lawyer acknowledged that it was a difficult decision for both parties. She further commented that terminating a marriage is an agonizing choice. Nobody is pleased when a marriage comes to an end. Ending a marriage should not be seen as a cause for joy. Saira has experienced both good and bad times in this marriage.
While talking, Shah refused to disclose the reason for Rahman and Banu's divorce, stating that she was unable to do so. Nevertheless, she observed that while Rahman was a caring husband, Banu was a devoted wife, and both of them are committed to their marriage.
When they were last seen at Radhika Merchant and Anant Ambani's wedding, people questioned if they were in a relationship just for the sake of being well-known. According to her, Rahman and Banu were both sincere, and their marriage was not a fraud. In addition, she decided not to address any of the social media responses to the composer's divorce announcement, where he used "#arsairabreakup.”
The couple tied the knot in 1995 and have three kids. Shortly after revealing the split, the music composer went onto his X at midnight and posted a heartfelt message confirming the news.
