Some may believe this show is a version of Boys Over Flowers, but in reality, both series are inspired by Yoko Kamio's Japanese shjo manga Hana Yori Dango. The plot details the life of Dong Shancai, an ordinary high school student, as she clashes with the affluent and haughty F4 group, headed by Dao Ming Si. Even though they had a rough start and were different from each other, Shancai and Dao Ming Si end up falling for each other.

The movie Our Secret, with Chen Zheyuan as Zhou Siyue and Xu Mengjie as Ding Xian, came out in 2021. The foundation is built upon the Chinese book Secrets in the Lattice.
