Whether it's drama, action, comedy, or something else entirely, 2024 seems to be a year that truly highlights Bollywood's creative and financial versatility. It seems like filmmakers are bound to produce significant movies alongside a string of hits that appeal to large audiences. If first signs are accurate, enjoyable theatrical visits are anticipated.
Emergency
In the political drama Emergency, Kangana Ranaut plays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in her directorial debut. Rather than viewing the film as a biographical one, Ranaut tells India Today that it is a display of a controversial period in Indian democracy.
Emergency was originally supposed to launch in November 2023, however due to delays, the premiere date has been pushed to September 2024.The film, which follows the Emergency order's implementation in 1975, promises a dramatic look at a turbulent period.
With Ranaut directing both in front of and behind the camera on Emergency, one of the most unique Bollywood productions of the year, the film has already generated excitement. It's also the final motion picture for the widely-known Indian actor and director Satish Kaushik, who died in 2023.
Jigra
Jigra is an upcoming Hindi thriller and action film that Alia Bhatt co-produces and stars in under her label, Eternal Sunshine Productions. Bhatt is a well-known actress who appears in many Telugu films as well as Bollywood productions, such as the well-liked RRR from 2022.
In Jigra, Bhatt and Johar collaborate in producing as well as acting roles. Dharma Productions, Karan Johar's production business, is supporting it after their successful 2022 collaboration on Darlings. Two siblings are at the core of a tale in the movie's trailer about courage calling for recklessness in living.
According to the only official synopsis of the film that has been made public thus far, it "follows an attempt to break out of prison." The next Bollywood film showcases a gritty dramatic plot and a more courageous side of the well-known actress in a dangerous scenario. In the video, Bhatt plays a terrifying character in poorly lit streets.
Metro…In Dino
One of 2024's most anticipated sequels, Metro... In Dino, will reunite composer Pritam, who has composed music for over 150 productions, with Ludo director Anurag Basu. The film is an ensemble cast that includes Shilpa Shetty (Indian Police Force), Irrfan Khan (Murder at Teesri Mazil 302), Konkona Sen Sharma (Mumbai Diaries), Kay Kay Menon (The Railway Men), and Kangana Ranaut (Emergency). It serves as a sequel to Basu's 2007 smash Life In A... Metro.
After the release of Ludo in 2020, Basu and producer Ritesh Sidhwani made a second collaboration, Metro... In Dino, takes its name from a song in the first movie. This Bollywood film is similar to group love stories like Love Actually. With the warmth and comedy characteristic of the director, the film looks at how people connect with one another in a city.
Singham Again
The third entry in the popular Bollywood police series is called Singham Again. One of the most anticipated films of 2024, Pushpa 2: The Rise, has a lot of competition even though it has already been released.
Huge expectations are held for the approaching release because of the commercial success of the two Singham movies in 2011 and 2014. Leading star Ajay Devgn is back as the virtuous titular officer, joining forces with an ensemble cast that includes Ranveer Singh ('83) and Kareena Kapoor (Crew) for another exciting showdown with the forces of corruption.
Singham Again, the main character in Bollywood's cop universe, promises exciting heroic displays appropriate for India's independence day celebrations. Fans can only conjecture as to what the next story could be because plot specifics are being kept under wraps for the time being.

Badass Ravikumar
In his comeback role, Himesh Reshammiya portrays actor Ravi Kumar, a former police officer. The actor investigated a murder in his previous film in order to clear his girlfriend's name after she was charged with killing a competitor. The twists and turns in Badass Ravikumar are expected to be much more intense than in the previous installment.
Ravi is a cast member of action musicals here. Still, when he has to face more than one villain, reality and imagination collide. Prabhu Deva (Bagheera) is confirmed to play one of the villains. Although the rest of the cast of The Xpose has not yet been confirmed, there are undoubtedly fans who would like to see them return. Additionally, a sizable ensemble is probably in attendance, similar to that of The Xpose.
Chhaava
The historical play Chhaava is based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It should not be confused with Shivrayancha Chhava, which was released in January 2024. Although the movie's exact subject matter is unknown, it is likely to center on his military career and eventual demise. In 2024, the film is still in production, and no stills have been made public.
Vicky Kaushal (The Great Indian Family) has made it clear that he filmed some of the largest action scenes of his career for the film while he was on set in late 2023, so that much is known about the film save that it would include a lot of action. Rashmika Mandanna, who also starred in Pushpa 2, is included in the film. Mandanna has worked on movies in four different Indian languages: Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada. As a result, she has become one of the most sought-after celebrities in India.
Welcome To The Jungle
This action-comedy, helmed by Ahmed Khan, is the third installment in the Welcome series, but it stands alone, so audiences don't feel obligated to see the first two. Joining a large cast, Akshay Kumar, who appeared in the first film but not the second, returns for this one.
The film will center on two police officers who are assigned to find an infamous criminal. They are shocked to learn that one of them has a close relationship with the same culprit they are hunting for.
Despite the fact that the film has been in development since 2022, the entire cast wasn't put together until late 2023, when the audience was first drawn in by the publication of stills and a motion poster. All of it happened far before the film's December 2023 start date, which was intended for a December 2024 release.
