Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl will be released on Netflix

Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, starring Janhvi Kapoor in the lead role, is all set to premiere on Netflix. The official twitter handle of the streaming giant made this announcement official on Tuesday. 

Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is jointly produced by the Dharma Productions and Zee Studios, featuring Pankaj Tripathi as her Father and Angad Bedi as her brother. The series is a biopic on the life of the Indian Air Force pilot Gunjan Saxena who, along with the Srividya Rajan, becomes the first Indian Women fighter pilot to venture into the war zone during the Kargil War in 1999 and was honored with the Shaurya Vir award for displaying the courage and grit during the war.  

Speaking about the film OTT release, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl producer Karan Johar said, “Gunjan Saxena is a defining film based on a true story about a woman who showed unparalleled courage, and inspiration to many in the coming years. We are excited about the partnership with Netflix and share this fearless story about following your heart and the dreams with millions around the world.”

Several Bollywood stars like Anushka Sharma, Vicky Kaushal, Neha Dhupia, Bhumi Pednekar, Kartik Aryan, and Arjun Kapoor among others also shared the news of the Gunjan Saxena. The Kargil Girl release on Netflix and wished the film team. 

To this film, Janhvi had shared Instagram about her journey during the film. She quoted “Spent two days trying to think of a caption that’ll do justice to what this experience has meant to me but nothing sums it up. It is film wrap and I feel blessed to have been on this special journey, and through it to find my best friend, Sharan Sharma- like you say its all about all process, and I don’t think there will ever be one as pure, honest, adventurous and memorable as this one. Can’t wait for you guys to see it.”

Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl went on floors in Lucknow in February 2019 and was previously scheduled to have a theatrical release on April 24, 2020. But owing to the nationwide lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, the makers decide to have a digital release.
