Peggy, known as 'Britain's Ugliest Dog' since 2023, hails from East Yorkshire and has garnered a significant following on Instagram. As Dogpool in the latest MCU film, Peggy takes on one of the Deadpool roles, famously played by Ryan Reynolds. In a memorable scene, Deadpool showers Peggy with affection, and the pug returns the love with a slobbery kiss.
Reynolds was the one who had spotted Peggy first via social media. “We did a global search, and Peggy beat out lots of contestants because of her sheer ugliness,” said director Shawn Levy, according to Marvel's official website.
With nearly 75,000 followers on Instagram, Peggy’s account features numerous posts of her dressed as a canine version of the 'merc with the mouth'—or rather, bark. She wrapped her filming for "Deadpool & Wolverine" on January 24, celebrating with a nap and leaving a special warm gift for Ryan Reynolds in his trailer.
In a notable action sequence, Dogpool’s kiss for Deadpool, while Wolverine looks on disapprovingly, has become a highlight. Reynolds has even nominated both himself and Peggy for the MTV Movie Awards in the Best Kiss category. According to director Shawn Levy, Reynolds discovered Peggy through social media, and her unique appearance helped her stand out in the global search for the role.
