Salman Khan firing case: ‘Intention was to kill me, my family members’, actor tells police

Bollywood actor Salman Khan informed the police that he believed the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was behind the firing at his residence in April this year, intending to kill him and his family. This revelation is part of a charge sheet filed by Mumbai Police in court regarding the incident.

Khan's statement indicated that while he was asleep at his Galaxy Apartments residence in the early hours of April 14, he heard a noise resembling a firecracker. Around 4:55 am, his police bodyguard informed him that two individuals on a motorbike had fired at the first-floor balcony.

Khan mentioned that there had been previous attempts to harm him and his family. Following the firing, his bodyguard lodged a complaint at the Bandra police station. He later learned through a Facebook post that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi had confessed to and claimed responsibility for the attack.

Khan's statement revealed that Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang had previously threatened to kill him and his relatives. "I believe that Lawrence Bishnoi, with the help of his gang members, carried out the firing incident when my family members were sleeping and planned to kill me and my family," Khan said. He also mentioned that his family had received several threats in recent years. In 2022, a threat letter was found on a bench opposite his building, and in March 2023, they received an email threat from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

In January 2024, two unknown individuals tried to trespass into Salman Khan's farmhouse near Panvel using fake identities. Earlier this month, the police submitted a 1,735-page charge sheet for the firing incident to the special court handling Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) cases. The court recently acknowledged the charge sheet, stating there was sufficient material to proceed against the six arrested individuals.

Those arrested include Vickykumar Gupta, Sagarkumar Pal, Sonukumar Bishnoi, Anujkumar Thapan (now deceased), Mohd Rafiq Choudhary, and Harpal Singh. Thapan allegedly committed suicide while in police custody after his arrest, while the other five are now in judicial custody.

Salman Khan’s brother, actor-producer Arbaaz Khan, also provided a statement to the police about the prior threats received by the family and the trespassing incident at their Panvel farmhouse. "Hence, Salman Khan would always tell our family members to be alert about their safety," Arbaaz mentioned in his statement, which is also part of the charge sheet.

Arbaaz Khan was out of town during the April 14 firing incident. He echoed his brother's sentiments, stating that he too believed Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang members were responsible for the attack, intending to kill their family members.
