The long-awaited Gaslight, starring Sara Ali Khan, was finally released today. It is a murder mystery with Chitrangada Singh and Vikrant Massey playing the key characters. The movie skipped the theatres and debuted on Diseny+ Hotstar on March 31, 2020. According to the trajectory of recent movies, many were watched exclusively online instead of in theatres. Similar to the success of digitally released films like Freddy, Darlings, Govinda Naam Mera, and others, Gaslight will be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar. Speaking about the movie's OTT release, Rahul Dev, who portrays a prominent character of an investigating officer, expressed his opinions.
Rahul Dev was asked for his opinion on whether or not OTT is the best venue for this movie and whether or not Gaslight should have been distributed in theatres. He replied, "OTT is actually a breathtaking scene for our film. Each spine chiller combines both a sound and a visual part. The cinema is all about sound and images, whether you watch a visual or are moved by the sound. In that regard, the sound and the sight are always more powerful in a theatre setting. If a movie is really large in scope, the image is large but is chopped off by the phone's small screen. Additionally, Dolby surround sound makes for powerful audio in theatres. Gaslight is a murder mystery movie.
