Reason for such makeover:

One of the main reasons for this project is to decongest the Connaught Place area and to connect the surrounding roads to make the travel to and from the station seamless. There will also be a wide pedestrian boulevard from the station to Connaught Place, which will also feature more than 5,000 parking bays across one or more multi-level car parking. The station will have a retail-cum facility of 5,50,000 square feet and the estimated cost for this project is Rs. 6,200 crore as discussed by the Rail Land Development and Authority (RDLA).

The Railway station would be upgraded to an international level and will also feature may hotels and restaurants just like the airport and similar to Aerocity!
