Remember that one neighbour who somehow knew about your fight with your spouse before you'd even finished having it? Chumbak is basically built around that exact energy, and the trailer makes it very clear this show isn't holding back on the chaos.
From the makers of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Khichdi, Chumbak looks like the kind of comfort comedy Indian television used to specialise in, except now it's landing straight on Netflix. Here's everything the Chumbak trailer has revealed so far.

What Is The Story Of Chumbak?
Chumbak is set in a lively, present-day Indian neighbourhood where privacy is basically a myth. The show follows five families living in what's being called Chumbak Colony, and their lives are so tangled up with each other that a small argument in one house can turn into a full-blown topic of discussion for the entire building by evening. Neighbours here aren't just people who happen to live close by, they're practically family, whether anyone asked for that or not.
The trailer for Chumbak introduces this world through its central couples. There's Mickey and Twinkle Oberoi, dreamy romantics who seem to be floating in their own little bubble, and Aditya and Priyanka Khanna, a couple who look composed on the outside but are dealing with their own quiet mess. Then there's the Taraporewala family, adding their own unpredictable flavour to the mix, and Rajni and Kuku Merchant, a couple who bicker constantly yet are clearly still head over heels for each other.
Rounding things off are Dharmendra and Kiran Kejriwal, whose relationship brings its own layer of comic confusion. It's messy, it's warm, and going by the Chumbak trailer, it's exactly the kind of neighbourhood you've probably lived in or next to at some point.

Why Chumbak Is Already Generating Buzz
A lot of the excitement around the Chumbak trailer comes down to who's behind it. Aatish Kapadia and JD Majethia's names alone bring instant nostalgia for anyone who grew up on Sarabhai vs Sarabhai's dry humour or Khichdi's chaos.
Netflix has described the show as a feel-good sitcom built around marriage, friendship, family and community, and going by the ensemble alone, comparisons to those older hits feel pretty inevitable. Early reactions online seem to be leaning positive, with several viewers saying the trailer already gave them proper nostalgia for old-school Indian neighbourhoods.
When Is Chumbak Releasing?
Chumbak premieres on Netflix on September 10, 2026. With familiar faces, a nostalgic comedy pedigree, and chaos baked into every corner of Chumbak Colony, the Chumbak trailer has set up what could be one of Netflix India's most relatable comedies when it drops on September 10.
