What Is Michael Movie About?
The movie starts in Gary, Indiana, featuring Michael, a 10-year-old (Juliano Krude Valdi) rehearsing with his siblings as members of the Jackson 5. The family group was overseen by the controlling patriarch, Joe Jackson (Colman Domingo), who kept a firm grip on the boys, especially the young MJ.
The elder Jackson sought an escape from the mundane existence he offered his family and therefore prepared his talented sons to form one of the most famous bands of the 1960s. As Michael matures, it becomes clear that he possesses the most talent in the family. He emerges as a solo artist, much to his father's unease.
The movie also emphasizes Michael Jackson’s ascent to fame as a solo artist in the 1970s and his emergence as a superstar following the massive success of Thriller, along with his return after a life-threatening incident during the Victory Tour in 1984.

Is Michael Part 2 In Production?
The movie, lasting over two hours, showcases the thrilling highs and lows of Michael’s career, featuring spectacular concert performances of his top hits along the way. Michael starring Jaafar Jackson (MJ's nephew) wraps up in 1988, at the height of the 'Bad' period, so although the duration is extensive, much of his Grammy-winning career remains unaddressed.
The Hollywood Reporter states that the director, Antoine Fuqua, initially had no plans to divide the film into two parts; however, due to several production delays, the concept of a sequel emerged.
At the premiere of the movie, Adam FoGelson, the star of the Lionsgate film, announced that a sequel was certainly a possibility.
He stated: “We have gotten ready for that time. If the audience indicates they want more, we’re ready to deliver it to them sooner rather than later.
Producer Graham King stated: “We’re certainly exploring some concepts." We’ll find out what occurs shortly, but at the moment, I’m experiencing a lot of anxiety about others viewing this one.”
Fans can anticipate a sequel, as it is quite likely; they simply need to ensure they see Michael in theaters!

Michael Biopic Review
The latest release Michael Biopic centered on the pop legend's life, is now encountering criticism from reviewers, who labeled the biopic as "whitewash" for failing to confront the sexual abuse accusations against Jackson.
#Michael Review:
— Paul Shirey (@arcticninjapaul) April 21, 2026
“The film never confronts Jackson’s legacy, but sidesteps it. What we get is a polished, sugar-coated, after-school special tribute concert film that protects the myth while avoiding the complexity that followed.
It may as well be called Saint Michael, rather… pic.twitter.com/dcwXOla2hs
While others called it, “Impressive”!
Sales del cine pensando: "joder no se si es lo que esperaba", pero al dia siguiente no puedes parar de pensar en lo que viste y deseando volver a sentirlo. IMPRESIONANTE!!

Why Did Taj Jackson (Michael’s Nephew) Slams Media?
Taj Jackson, Michael's nephew, told his critics to leave him alone.
"Apologies, media, you no longer have the power to dictate the story of who Michael Jackson really was," the oldest son of deceased Jackson 5 member Tito Jackson posted on X on April 21, according to Variety. "The audience will see this film… they will make their own choice." And you are unable to manage that. Looking forward to some critics having to admit they were wrong. "Indeed, I will be that trivial."
Michael Biopic delivers strong performances and nostalgia, but feels incomplete in parts. It is a good watch for fans, but not a fully detailed biopic.
