About Satyabhama - How She Met Lord Krishna?

Devi Satyabhama is believed to be an avatar of Bhumi Devi, the Earth Goddess. She was the daughter of Satrajit, a Yadava who worked as the treasurer of Dwarka and owned the powerful Syamantaka jewel, which he received from Lord Surya.

Satrajit valued this jewel a lot. Shri Krishna once advised him to give the jewel to King Ugrasen for safety, but Satrajit refused. One day, Satrajit’s brother Prasenjit wore the jewel and went hunting in the forest. There, he was attacked and killed by a lion. Later, Jambavan found the jewel and gave it to his daughter to play with.

When Prasenjit did not return and the jewel went missing, Satrajit wrongly accused Shri Krishna of stealing it. To prove his innocence, Krishna went in search of the jewel. He finally found it with Jambavan, and they fought for 28 days.

In the end, Jambavan realized that Krishna was divine. He accepted his mistake, asked for forgiveness, and offered his daughter Jambavati in marriage to him.

Krishna then returned the jewel to Satrajit. After learning the truth, Satrajit felt ashamed and apologized. As a gesture of respect, he offered his daughter Satyabhama in marriage to Shri Krishna.
