Iconic playback vocalist Asha Bhosle died at 92 following a cardiac arrest and respiratory issues. On Saturday evening, she was taken to Breach Candy Hospital located in South Mumbai.

Her last rites will be performed today at 4 PM, confirmed by her son Anand Bhosle. Asha Tai’s granddaughter confirmed her death through a social media post, requesting privacy for the family.
Legendary Singer Asha Bhosle Career Breakthrough
Bhosle, born on September 8, 1932, received classical music training from her father, Dinanath Mangeshkar. She debuted with Chunaria (1948), but her initial years were characterized by hardship, as most of her songs appeared in minor films.

Her rise to prominence occurred in the late 1950s with composer O.P. Nayyar, whose partnerships in movies such as Naya Daur and Howrah Bridge propelled her into the limelight and confirmed her status as a top playback singer.

- Asha Bhosle received India’s top honour in cinema - Dadasaheb Phalke Award (2000).

- Asha Tai was the first Indian Singer to be nominated for Grammy Awards.
- Holds the Guinness World Record for being the most recorded artist in music history, with over 11,000 songs officially recognised.
- In 2011, she received a Lifetime Achievement award at The Asian Awards and was featured by the BBC as one of the 100 greatest women in music.
- She was awarded the Maharashtra Bhushan (2021), in addition to multiple honorary doctorates and unique recognitions such as the Freddie Mercury Award, which many fans may not know about.

Actress Tabu became emotional while paying homage to iconic singer Asha Bhosle at her home in Grande, Lower Parel. She embraces and comforts Zanai Bhosle, the granddaughter of Asha Bhosle.
Hrithik posted a nostalgic photo with the veteran actress on his official X (Formerly Twitter) account. In sharing the picture, he referred to her as the ‘Queen of Indian playback singing.’
Actor Riteish Deshmukh also came to offer his final tributes to the iconic singer. He was observed showing emotions during the antim darshan.
Asha Bhosle's final rites will take place with state honors on Monday afternoon at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. The deceased singer's body was taken from the hospital to her Lower Parel residence on April 12, at approximately 5 pm.
Asha Bhosle’s voice will continue to live on through her timeless songs. Her legacy remains unmatched in the world of Indian music.
