Chandan Roy: From Theatre Dreams to OTT Fame Across the Nation

In a realm full of prominent figures and grand productions, it’s rare for a newcomer to leave a significant mark with just talent and straightforwardness. Chandan Roy is one such treasure. Starting from modest origins and possessing a down-to-earth appeal, Chandan Roy has turned into a well-known figure, particularly following his touching portrayal in the popular Amazon Prime series Panchayat.

He, born on December 20, 1995, in Mahnar, a little town in Bihar, did not envision the red carpet while growing up. Instead, he discovered happiness in storytelling and theater throughout school events and college performances. He studied Mass Communication at Patna University and subsequently obtained a diploma in Radio and Television from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in Delhi.

Prior to emerging as the Chandan Roy we currently recognize and appreciate, he also served as a journalist at Dainik Jagran. However, his genuine passion was consistently in acting.

The Major Advancement: Panchayat

Chandan Roy emerged as a rising star with Panchayat, a comedy-drama that highlights the daily allure and struggles of rural India. He portrays Vikas Shukla, the kind and devoted office assistant at the Panchayat office located in the imaginary village of Phulera. What set Chandan Roy’s performance apart was not only the comedy he infused into the character but also the sincerity he displayed. His depiction was so genuine, it seemed as if he wasn’t performing at all—he was Vikas.
