As per reports by the Indian Express, Emergency still needs approval from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Kangana Ranaut initially shared this information on her own social media platform X (previously known as Twitter). A recent update shows that ASG Satyapal Jain told the Punjab and Haryana High Court that the primary focus of the board is to take into account the feelings of all groups, particularly the Sikh community.
The CBFC has mentioned that the certification process will be delayed because of the sensitive content of the film. The postponement of the release of Emergency is due to the delay in getting the required clearance, causing it to not meet its original September 6 deadline. The postponement is happening due to protests from various Sikh groups, who are worried about the portrayal of their community in the movie.
Previously on social media, Kangana Ranaut posted, "It's being said that our movie, Emergency, has received a Censor certificate." This statement is false. Our movie was actually approved, but the certification process was halted due to numerous threats being received. Threats of death. The members of the Censor Board are receiving threats. There is pressure on us to refrain from displaying the assassination of Indira Gandhi, from showcasing Bhindranwale, and from unveiling the Punjab riots.
