Meet Jitendra Kumar, AKA 'Jeetu Bhaiya': From IIT Kharagpur to Kota Factory

Jitendra Kumar was born on September 1, 1990, into a family of engineers in Khairthal, Rajasthan. From a young age, he enjoyed mimicking famous Bollywood celebrities, with Shah Rukh Khan being his favorite. Despite his love for acting, Jitendra followed his family's path and pursued a B.Tech in Civil Engineering from IIT Kharagpur. During his college days, he participated in numerous stage plays and joined the Hindu Technology Dramatics Society, where his passion for acting blossomed.

It was at IIT Kharagpur that Jitendra met Biswapati Sarkar, a connection that would prove pivotal in his career. After graduating, Jitendra joined TVF (The Viral Fever) in 2012. His breakthrough came in 2013 with the viral video "Munna Jazbaati: The Q-tiya Intern," which garnered over 3 million views. This success led to a series of YouTube videos that made Jitendra a well-recognized face on the internet.

Jitendra's career soared as he appeared in several TVF productions, including "Permanent Roommates," "TVF Pitchers," "TVF Bachelors," "Bisht, Please!," "F.A.T.H.E.R.S.," "Mr. & Mrs.," "ImMature," "TVF Tripling," and "Humorously Yours." However, it was his role in TVF's "Kota Factory" that truly established him as one of India's finest actors. Portraying 'Jeetu Bhaiya,' an IIT coaching instructor, Jitendra resonated deeply with engineering students across the nation.

Following the success of "Kota Factory" in 2019, Jitendra took on the role of Abhishek Tripathi, a Gram Panchayat secretary, in the web series "Panchayat." The series received widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike, earning numerous awards. Jitendra's performance caught the attention of Bollywood producers, leading to his win for Best Actor in a Series (Male) at the 2022 Filmfare OTT Awards.

While Jitendra was making waves in the OTT space, he also made his Bollywood debut opposite Ayushmann Khurrana in "Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan." In 2022, he starred in his first solo film, "Jaadugar," which was released on Netflix and well-received by audiences. By 2024, Jitendra once again made headlines with the release of "Panchayat 3."

Despite his current success, there was a time when Jitendra almost gave up on acting. In 2012, after moving to Mumbai in search of film work, he faced significant rejection and frustration. This led him to temporarily quit acting and work as a civil engineer at a multinational construction company. However, the viral success of "Munna Jazbaati" reignited his acting career, prompting him to leave his job and return to Mumbai to join TVF.

Interestingly, Jitendra's journey to stardom included setbacks such as being rejected by prestigious institutions like the National School of Drama (NSD) and the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). Undeterred, he continued to hone his craft, ultimately becoming one of the highest-paid actors in the OTT space. According to ABP Live, Jitendra charged Rs. 70,000 per episode for his role in "Panchayat 3," earning a total of Rs. 5,60,000 for the series' eight episodes.

Despite his fame, Jitendra prefers to keep his personal life private. While he has a significant Instagram following of 1.6 million, most of his posts are related to his professional work. At 33, Jitendra remains single and focused on his career. Although he has been linked to various female co-stars over the years, he has not confirmed any of these rumors.

Jitendra Kumar's journey from a civil engineering graduate to a beloved actor is a testament to his talent and perseverance. His roles, particularly 'Jeetu Bhaiya' in "Kota Factory" and Abhishek Tripathi in "Panchayat," have endeared him to audiences, securing his place as a prominent figure in the Indian entertainment industry.
