Bade Miyan Chote Miyan: A Comedic Masterpiece Reimagined for Modern Audiences

In the pipeline is 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,' an upcoming Hindi cyberpunk action-thriller helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar. Under the banners of Pooja Entertainment and AAZ Films, this cinematic venture is the brainchild of Ali Abbas Zafar, Jackky Bhagnani, Vashu Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, and Himanshu Kishan Mehra. Headlining the cast are the dynamic duo of Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, with Prithviraj Sukumaran portraying the formidable antagonist. Also gracing the screen are Manushi Chhillar, Alaya F, Sonakshi Sinha, and Ronit Bose Roy in pivotal roles.

The movie 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' was announced in February 2022. They started taking pictures for the movie in January 2023 and finished by February 2024. They took pictures in many places like Mumbai, Scotland, London, Luton, Abu Dhabi, and Jordan. The music is by Vishal Mishra, and the background music is by Julius Packiam. Marcin Laskawiec is the person who took the pictures, and Steven H. Bernard edited the movie. The special effects are done by DNEG. The movie is going to be released on 10th April 2024, which is also Eid.

Premise

Elite soldiers Firoz and Rakesh embark on a worldwide adventure to retrieve a stolen weapon from Kabir, an insane and revenge-seeking scientist. With Kabir's sinister plan to utilize AI technology to threaten India's safety, Firoz and Rakesh must race against time to thwart his destructive intentions.

Production

Development

In December 2021, Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff were chosen to star in Ali Abbas Zafar's new action movie. The film is being made by Pooja Entertainment, the same company that produced the original movie in 1998. The official announcement for the movie came on 8 February 2022. Ali Abbas Zafar not only directed and wrote the film but also helped produce it under his AAZ Films banner. The production was a collaboration between Pooja Entertainment and AAZ Films

Casting

Manushi Chhillar joined the cast to play a role filled with action, reuniting with Akshay Kumar after their film 'Samrat Prithviraj' in 2022. In December 2022, Prithviraj Sukumaran was chosen to play the main villain named Kabir. Sonakshi Sinha was cast in March 2023. Before that, Alaya F and Ronit Roy became part of the film's cast in January 2023.

Filming

Filming for the movie started on 17 January 2023 at Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai. The first part of filming had action scenes set in a bunker and other locations in Film City. The first schedule ended on 19 February 2023.

The second part of filming, from 28 February to 12 April 2023, took place in the United Kingdom, mainly in Scotland, London, and Luton. They filmed intense action scenes involving cars, bikes, helicopters, and tanks. One night scene was shot in Paisley, representing Shanghai. During a bike chase sequence, Akshay Kumar sustained an injury.

The final filming schedule began on 16 April 2023 in Abu Dhabi. They shot action scenes with various vehicles, including cars, bikes, tanks, horses, dune buggies, planes, and a Chinook helicopter. They recreated an Indian Army airstrip in the Liwa Desert. Filming wrapped on 9 May 2023, except for some minor reshoots.

On 21 January 2024, they started filming the final four songs in Jordan, choreographed by Bosco-Caesar. The title track was shot at the Roman Theatre in Jerash, along with other locations. They then moved to the Dead Sea for a romantic track and a party scene featuring the main cast. The last song was shot in Wadi Rum, featuring an Arabic-style song. Akshay Kumar confirmed the end of this filming schedule on 1 February 2024.

Post-production

DNEG is handling the VFX work for the movie.

Soundtrack

The music for the movie is created by Vishal Mishra, with lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil. The background score is crafted by Julius Packiam. They released the first single, 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (Title Track),' on 19 February 2024. The second single, 'Mast Malang Jhoom,' came out on 28 February 2024. The third single, 'Wallah Habibi,' was released on 13 March 2024.

Marketing

The first look poster of the film was revealed on 20 January 2024, followed by the teaser release on 24 January 2024. A promotional event for the movie took place in Lucknow on 26 February 2024, featuring live stunts by Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, along with interactions with the audience. The film was further promoted at the India Today Conclave 2024 in Delhi. On 22 March 2024, Kumar and Shroff performed live at the 2024 Indian Premier League Opening Ceremony. Finally, the trailer launch event was held in Mumbai on 26 March 2024.

Release

Theatrical

In February 2022, the film was initially set to release on 22 December 2023, around Christmas. However, in May 2023, Pooja Entertainment announced a new release date for Eid 2024. The movie will be released in various formats, including standard, 3D, and IMAX, in Hindi as well as dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages

Distribution

PVR Inox Pictures has secured the rights to release the movie in theaters across India, while Yash Raj Films will handle its distribution overseas.

Home Media

Netflix has bought the rights to stream the movie digitally.
