Kaho Na Pyaar Hai’ fame lyricist Ibrahim Ashk dies of Covid complications

Ashq daughter said that poet Ibrahim Ashk, known for composing songs for films such as "Kaho Na Pyaar Hai" and "Koi... Mil Gaya," died of COVID-19 pneumonia on Sunday. His daughter, Musaffa, said Ashq was 70 years old. He was taken to the city's Meditech Hospital on Saturday after complaining of shortness of breath. The daughter added that the veteran had been diagnosed with COVID-19 pneumonia, which affected his lungs.

"He was taken to the hospital on Saturday after he became very ill. There he was diagnosed with COVID. He had COVID pneumonia and the doctors told us it had affected his lungs and he was having difficulty breathing. He died today around 4 pm," She said. 

She added that his funeral will be held on Monday morning. Born in Madhya Pradesh, Ashq graduated in Indian literature in 1974 from the University of Indore. He was also an Urdu poet, later he went on to work as a journalist.

His famous works in Bollywood as a lyricist include hits such as "Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai", "Na Tum Jano Na Hum", "Koi Mil Gaya", "Idhar Chala Mein Udhar Chala", and "Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage", among others.

He also died through his wife and his two daughters, Musaffa.
