Music composer and vocalist Palash Muchhal, who recently made headlines after his marriage to cricketer Smriti Mandhana was canceled, faced more trouble once again.

Vidnyan Mane, a Marathi actor and producer, claimed that Palash defrauded him of Rs 40 lakh and also accused him of being disloyal to Smriti Mandhana. Palash has now opted for legal means to address these accusations. He has lodged a Rs 10 crore defamation suit against him for making ‘false’ and ‘outrageous’ claims.

On Saturday evening, Palash posted on Instagram, stating, “My lawyer Shreyansh Mithare has sent a legal notice for defamation worth Rs 10 crore to Sangli's Vidnyan Mane due to his false, outrageous, and extremely defamatory claims made with the intention of damaging my reputation and character.”

What’s The Matter?

According to the complaint, Palash met Mane in Sangli on December 5, 2023. Mane expressed his desire to invest in film production, and Muchhal mentioned he could finance his upcoming project 'Nazaria' as a producer, as he stated. 

After the film's debut on OTT platforms, Muchhal informed Mane that he could gain a profit of Rs 12 lakh from a Rs 25 lakh investment and additionally proposed a role in the film, according to the complaint.

The two met two more times afterward, and as of March 2025, Mane reportedly provided Muchhal with a total of Rs 40 lakh. The project, nonetheless, was not finished, so Mane requested a refund but reportedly received no reply. He subsequently went to the Sangli police. He accused Palash of being unfaithful to Smriti prior to their marriage. In response to this, Palsh now files a Rs 10 Crore defamation case against Vidnyan Mane.

Who Is Palash Muchhal?

Palash Muchhal, born in 1995 and brought up in Indore, trained as a classical vocalist prior to entering Bollywood. His initial significant breakthrough occurred in 2014 with the movie Dishkiyaoon. He subsequently wrote music for films like Sweety Weds NRI and Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho.

In addition to film music, he is involved in independent projects and is presently directing Raju Bajewala, which stars Avika Gor and Chandan Roy, as reported by CNBC. Palash is the younger sibling of famous playback singer Palak Muchhal.

Smriti and Palash started their relationship in 2019 but maintained their confidentiality for several years. They revealed it to the public in July 2024 by sharing an anniversary photo celebrating five years of their relationship.

Palash subsequently posted a video of his proposal at the DY Patil Stadium located in Navi Mumbai. Smriti Mandhana showed up in a crimson dress, whereas Palash donned a black-grey suit. The heartfelt moment concluded with his words: "She said Yes."

However, the ceremony was postponed indefinitely following a sudden medical emergency involving Mandhana's father, Srinivas Mandhana. Subsequently, the groom-to-be Palash Muchhal was also hospitalized as a result of health issues triggered by stress.
