That's a big blow: India cheers on Lovlina Borgohin, at Olympics Semifinals.

Minutes after boxer Lovlina Borgohene beat Nien-Chin Chen in her women's quarterfinal match Welter (64-69kg) on Friday, since the ongoing Tokyo Olympics, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, posted to congratulate the boxer.

"This is a BIG punch. You continue to make us proud #LovlinaBorgohain and keep India's flag high & shining at #TokyoOlympics2020," Mr. Sarma posted on his Instagram.

She also confirmed that India won at least one bronze medal at Tokyo Olympics.

"Lovlina has entered the semi-finals! Well done @LovlinaBorgohai, what great news to wake up India even today! We were glued to the TV watching you play!" Sports Minister Anurag Thakur tweeted.

Lovlina will now face Turkey's top seed Bucinaz Surminelli in the semi-final match. With her historic victory, Lovlina became the second Indian boxer after Mary Kom to win an Olympic medal.

To celebrate her victory, businessman Anand Mahendra asked India to obtain a "shinier medal".

Mr. Mahendra tweeted "You've made us greedy @LovlinaBorgohai Feel the power of a billion wishes in every punch of yours…and get us a shinier medal…,"

Last week, 26-year-old weightlifter Mirabai Chanu won India's first silver medal in weightlifting at the Olympics. The Manipur weightlifter won silver with a total lift of 202 kg (87 kg snatch and 115 kg clean pull).
