Aamir Khan returns to the cinema—this time featuring a tale that resonates deeply, ignites crucial discussions, and lingers in your mind well after the film concludes. Sitaare Zameen Par, the spiritual follow-up to the legendary Taare Zameen Par, is not only capturing hearts but also achieving significant success at the box office.
With over Rs 60 crore earned in just three days and a global opening better than Sky Force, the film has now become Aamir Khan’s 9th highest-grossing film ever. But what’s truly special is the story it tells—a tale of redemption, inclusion, and learning from those we least expect to.
In this blog, we will guide you through the touching narrative, a brief critique, box office statistics, and tackle the crucial question—Is Sitaare Zameen Par a success or a failure? Let's get started
Sitaare Zameen Par Story
Sitaare Zameen Par tells the emotional story of Gulshan (played by Aamir Khan), a man trying to fix his life. His family—his wife (Genelia D’Souza) and mother (Dolly Ahluwalia)—help him stay on the right path as he battles his past mistakes.
Previously a respected individual, Gulshan must now restore his reputation. But this time, he’s not just teaching—he’s learning. A group of 10 special kids, including a feisty girl named Golu Khan (Simran Mangeshkar), show him what really matters in life.
The movie tracks Gulshan’s path of atonement, personal growth, and embracing oneself. It conveys a powerful message regarding intellectual disabilities and challenges misconceptions about what is deemed “normal” in society. Similar to Taare Zameen Par, this touching film seeks to raise awareness and resonate emotionally with the audience.
Review Of Sitaare Zameen Par
Sitaare Zameen Par is an emotional and uplifting film that showcases the experiences of children with intellectual disabilities such as Down Syndrome and hidden autism. It’s a reimagining of the Spanish movie Champions and serves as a thematic continuation of Taare Zameen Par.
The film showcases Aamir Khan as a harsh and challenged coach who changes after mentoring a unique basketball team. The film combines pleasure, emotions, and awareness without appearing to preach. It showcases that children with disabilities have abilities, emotions, and dreams—just like everyone else. Aamir Khan shines in the main role, while Genelia Deshmukh plays his supportive wife. The youthful actors enchant the audience with their heartfelt and charming portrayals.
Though the story has a few slow parts and extra subplots, Sitaare Zameen Par still manages to leave a strong impact with its message of love, hope, and inclusion. It’s a perfect family movie with both heart and humour.

With this weekend’s earnings, Sitaare Zameen Par has now become Aamir Khan’s 9th highest-grossing film based on India net collections, surpassing Rang De Basanti to break into the top ten. Nonetheless, it did not manage to exceed Laal Singh Chaddha (Rs 61.12 crore) and the actor’s 2007 movie Taare Zameen Par (Rs 62.95 crore).
